This kind of package is routine. I’ve seen it many time at the large, and successful, manufacturing companies I’ve worked at. 2 years ago I accepted one of those packages. The company that offered it is still making money hand over fist riding the data center build out wave.

Just wanted to make a note that as of right now (1:30 pm central Feb 13th). There are R1T Key FOBs available in the Rivian gear shop. Earlier today there were also R1S FOBs but they are now unavailable.

The tent on the back of my R1T seems to cut my range 10% to 15% or so. Just a guess, no rigorous testing.
