Thoughtful review. I’m sticking with my gen 1, it’s been rock solid (except for a couple minor things) for over 60k miles. I’ve thought about upgrading several times but I just can’t justify going from a $65k after rebates R1T to a $90-$100k R1T and now I kinda want to test out the battery warranty.
FWIW I’ve towed over 14k (11 western states) with my R1T and I don’t want a range extender. I also own an ICE tow vehicle that stays home most of the time. Energy density will continue to increase and negate the problem long before the kinks are worked out of EREVs.
I just hope they charge better and have better controls over the thermals than Tesla has been able to achieve with its 4680. If not and this has more to do with cost savings, I don’t believe it’ll work out well in the long run.
I’ve pulled a conventional travel trailer about 14k miles now. 1.02 miles/kWh is the average driving 60-65mph, any stretch over 100 miles can get nerve wracking.
Sorry to derail the fine china thread ……. but looking at those Chinese cars definitely makes me feel like American car manufacturers are at least 10 years behind.
I’m right with you as far as age and mileage (2 years and 60k miles) and I’ve wondered when is it gonna happen to me, but honestly I think I’m gonna ride it out and hope it’s not terribly inconvenient when they go.
Ok I’ve been convinced. I’ve been thinking about getting a phone holder for quite some time, but there’s always been something that I thought I wouldn’t like or it might be flimsy or, or, or….. Well this is the one. Ordered.
That equals ~$.65 a mile when towing! That’s going to get expensive fast. Personally I think this is a bad move at this moment in time. There’s already mountains of FUD getting spewed and Rivian just poured gas on that fire. They want/need to make money, but hurting their vehicles sales in the...
So you clipped some kind of metal so hard that you broke the reflector, broke a wheel, blew a tire, and partially ripped the front tire off. Thats sounds more like you had an accident than a simple flat tire. Something is fishy.
Going! Went last year and had a blast. When you take into account everything that comes with the purchase, like unlimited free charging, event passes, and an incredible swag bag, it’s not a bad value.
I do a fair amount of towing too, and I can’t say as I blame you. I would love to do 300 towing miles with just one 30 minute stop. I hope you pop in here on occasion and let us know the pros and cons of the Silverado, I almost bought one, but felt like the software was really lackluster and...
