Sorry Goose, I got to disagree.. if capacity was important, automakers would market and publish that more often. It's all about range, no one speaks about capacity...except maybe us dorks who go on forums.
You could have something crazy like the hummer at ~215 kwh and 300 miles of range or...
yes Rivian shrunk the large to reduce cost and justify the max price. Both have lower cost cells than gen 1 also. Gen 1 max was a rip off at the time.
Capacity shouldn't matter to the consumer, efficiency and ultimately range, is is what should be important. They made a huge change in...
Rivian, when switching to the new cell, reduced the capacity of large to make MAX look like it adds value, which it didn't on gen 1. Gen 1 large is the better battery pack.
Before tesla set that as the benchmark for EVs, the average consumer was driving cars with 8+ second 0-60 times. I would say the % is high for who that really matters too. Range and efficiency are much more of an important stat for your average car buyer.
Honestly - Get a Ford Mustang Mach-E or Hyundai Ioniq 5 or better yet a used Rivian R1. R2 is at least 2 years away. I suspect the R2 will be more expensive than its competitors.
Subaru people seem to be very brand loyal, so I think this is only targeted towards those who love the brand and may want to go EV at some point. Mostly this is Toyota needing to push product to feed a factory.
The issue is the R2 release date and potentially price, If the R2 dropped last year, it would "own this market segment" easily. But, the new model Y is priced very well, there's a lot of great EVs in this mid-size EV range now many which will have traditional feature people come to expect...
To be fair the target demo for Subaru owners is not speed or road trips and regardless of what the TV ads show not off roading..... its a safety, reliability, and AWD for typical families. I do think seeing under 300miles of range will scare people away, although it shouldn't...
I always call my R1S, our Fancy Subaru, My wife has an outback (sorry ladies, she is straight:D)
Subaru just introduced the follow-up to their (really Toyota's) flop of an EV, the Solterra. This could be direct competitor to the R2. It;s more of a wagon / outback sized, but noted that...
My guess is they are on 2025.06, they note they have the audio improvements.
I agree, But i have never been one to complain about the suspension, which was every reviewers gripe on gen 1. Even when i got my gen 1 a year ago before they tuned it. it's not perfect and I haven't driven another...
While these guys aren't the most EV friendly reviewers, a lot driven by how bad the charging infostructure is in North America, they really beat-up on the drivability of the R1S tri motor in this review. They make some fair points, but overall they didn't enjoy it.
Yuri was getting motion...
There are other aftermarket options that don't have the RFID tag on it so those wouldn't lock.
I would assume if you just put a piece of duct tape over the tag you could stop it from locking.
I've used this aftermarket one, the design is a little squirrelly with its rounded edge top. But it works. https://amzn.to/4cwWS8L. Also, locks as soon as you put it in, and the screen recognized that its the draw and not the speaker, so you need to unlock via the screen to access. It's...
Everyone knew, especially as the price of steel went crazy, those launch prices and mileage was never going to happen. Musk always over promises and under delivers.
