I haven't seen anything about this on the Reddit sub, and I'm subscribed to all notifications. Is there a sub other than https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian ?
BTW, for anyone who is not a member and wants a discount on Overland Expo, just use this link and say you're a member. They have no way to check.

Nearly all club discounts are fake.
I was given a free membership and will let it lapse. I have seen zero benefit. Most of the discounts are available in many other ways, not exclusive to RCA. None of the events I've attended were exclusive to RCA, just all around Rivian or EV events. Their discussion "forum" is run on...
The SAE spec for the OBD port is six amps.
96 watts of LED lighting is a HUGE amount! Crazy. I can't believe it uses that much. As reference, a generic household LED bulb is 9-11w. This is ten of those? WTF!
There's nothing intrinsically wrong with using the OBD port for power, many safe...
It uses super strong magnets to keep it stable, and the arrangement is very impressive. No play or movement in any direction. The Chun mount seemed too light and shaky in the videos.
I have no idea what you're saying in response to what I said. The large rails would have saved your doors. The small ones maybe. The small ones on other vehicles show a lot of damage and have not been sufficient to save damage, so I got the larger ones.
Discord sucks hot sweaty balls. I just got my Janka CNC mount, it's really solid and well made. Completely happy.

Right, that's where the phone is at least 99% as good since you have power and protection. And my phone had far better battery than my last inReach because it was the marine unit with GPS, which chewed battery like crazy.
Exactly. I'm confident that I am covered when I have an iPhone on a boat or in a truck/Jeep. I am very slightly less covered if I'm on a motorcycle (some chance of breakage). I'm not as covered if I am out hunting, although I mitigate it with a hard case and spare battery.
Add Starlink to...
This is why I got rid of inReach. This is awesome and has gotten even better now that you can also use the Starlink service directly on the phone. Makes the dedicated devices mostly obsolete.
I used to own an inReach and a SPOT; they have their place. I used them for motorcycle, Jeep and boat, adventures in the middle of nowhere. It has very low convenience due to limitations, but a pretty good safety factor for emergencies. Starlink is a whole different thing. If I can continue...
Yeah, that one, or the many like it. The twisting pressure on that small slot will be immense on every bump. I'm not sure what the better solution is for a really solid mount. For temp usage I would really be looking at the suction cups. Ugly but effective. Don't rule out a side window...
I've done a lot of mounts in a lot of cars for a lot of things, and no way would I hang an iPad on that mount above unless it had a third point of support. Meaning that the lower part is at least just pressed away from the dash, so there's no cantilever pressure.
