FWIW, I found the 22” to be brutal for driving with respect to comfort. I drive on the 20” ATs, which to me, are much better than 22s and the last update has had an awesome effect. Everyone in my family has said something and usually I am the only one who notices/cares. Unless you have to have...
100% agree. A world of difference. I am on the OEM ATs and even they are super smooth and much more refined, but not a crazy couch on wheels that floats too much.
It’s WAY better than I expected. Awesome.
Got. I notification last night and immediately installed. I am usually not in first wave. But I bet Rivian wants it out to as many folks as possible before July 4 travel.
Really improved ride.
Biggest surprise is ride is actually markedly improved in my S. Not too soft or floaty but not...
By the way, this is NOT tried and true but HAS worked for me and others in the past - at times. It IS possible to call or chat with Rivian and get moved “up” in the rotation for an update. It’s hard to come up with a good excuse other than “I need it now!” but sometimes that works.
I have to...
I have the screen lag issue and it’s the first thing I mention every time I get a survey from Rivian. It’s Bush League for a car that’s not that old. My 2016 Model X display is much faster.
On topic - I agree with those saying it will be a week before broad release. And, unfortunately, I don’t...
They have a broad enough employee base for testing. They push to these folks because they’re “influencers” and it helps the hype machine - especially on heels of VW news, etc. They’ll then take a week to just roll it out to us normal folks. Tesla does the same.
The guy who picked up a “gen 2” R1 on another thread said he has the new software - so even if it’s still in beta, they’re making deliveries with it. Wonder if Gen 2 needs that update for some reason…
I can wait another week or so. I waited 2+ years for my R1!
Love my R1S and the only update that is interesting in Gen 2 is the ride - but it doesn’t sound like it’s that much smoother. The Gen 1 R1T has a far, far better ride than the Gen 1 S, but I expect that will continue to be the case. All other upgrades are nearly, but not needed by me.

Tesla nav is trash too. Rivian and Tesla are both awful nav systems. I still use Waze on my phone. Native Waze would be great. I don’t want CarPlay or Android auto, but I want legit nav on a $100k car and I don’t think Rivian will get there. Tesla’s had 10+ years and their nav is still...
On retrofit hardware: cameras are super tough. BUT, steering wheel is very easy. Needed our X yoke replaced and the guy came out and did it in 15 minutes. So Rivian COULD probably offer it at some point, but they probably don’t want to/need to.
Early adopters know the risks, so I can’t...
I’ve had my R1S for a while now and it’s never been this long from first report of rollout to getting it. I think it was potentially pulled. At least slowed.
I wanted rear screen updates. So I am happy, but I also wanted quad zone control - which Wassym said was coming (read earlier post of mine).
BUT, there are other updates I want more. Like camera view for turn signal which Wassym said he had demoed a year ago. That said, I am one of those who...
This is not true per what Rivian’s Wassym Bensaid said on his Reddit account 2 years ago. That’s the account he’s responded officially from for a long time…
He said quad zone. Yes, that could mean something different, I suppose. But, to your point, no one’s pointed out the parts in a tear down.
We all know there’s a refresh coming and it’s very fair to expect it will include some internal tweaks. I think they’ll be noticeable as they need to increase demand. So, things like the new steering wheel and dials we saw on R2, no camp speaker but a drawer (again, saw on R2), maybe even a...
My passengers (kids) in the second row want and need to control the temperature, not just see the temp or turn it on and off…I really hope it’s not just a display of the current temp, but that pic showing temp had no arrows…maybe you can tap through to a menu.
The FWDs are an issue for us. We are on our second X and have the same “ghost” sensor issues we had with our 2016 X. The new one is a 2022. They’ve replaced the door sensors but one door still stops about 15% open 80% of the time. Not helpful for carpool!
Otherwise, you can’t really compare...
