I work for the railroad industry and most, if not all, salvage yards are trained to identify our scrapable material and anybody trying to turn in tie plates or spikes, etc. will get met with a "sorry our system is so slow" while the authorities show up. I wonder if there would be a way to dye...

Dash cam records continuously, while the "incident" recording is like 2 minutes before and after a certain event, if I remember right. The "Gear Guard" only records people moving near the vehicle and only in well lit areas. Even then it is suspect. I was backed into while parked, even affected...

This. I've removed and replaced mine several times without issue. After I push the tabs in, I just make sure the body lines look good and swing it up - everything lines up.
