UPDATE! 2025 Silver Lake Sand Dunes Weekend July 18-20

I've reserved a site online just outside the reserved block with a request to be put in the Rivian block (wasn't available to select online).

Accident caught on rear camera - hit by 16 yo on her phone!

Glad to hear that no one was hurt. Sorry for the vehicle damage - I know I would be gutted. I hope your insurance company treats you well.

BYD construction site in Brazil shut over ‘slavery-like’ conditions

An alternative way to do ”tariffs” would be to calculate the cost differential for producing the product at the least cost as opposed to complying with all our domestic health, safety, environmental and other regulations. That cost would then be attached as a tariff or tax on the good unless the...

EVs Mooch Off, Do Not Pay Fair Share for Road Usage

I had a similar argument with an angry coal roller last year who thought I shouldn't be riding my fat bike down a gravel road since his gas taxes were paying for it and I wasn't. The fact that I have multiple vehicles in the family that I'm paying registration/gas/eve taxes on as well as the...

Where is the new Gen2 Quad???

I have an R1T Quad Motor. I have launched numerous times and it has never felt out of control - impressively so - other than the one time I foolishly did so on a gravel road. You could hear and feel it scrambling for traction. It was definitely impressive how well it did, just stupid of me to do...

    Rivian Branding Change?

Sprayed with what they put on the plants in Idiocracy - it's got electrolytes.

    Indications of an R1 refresh

Service center capacity is a current constraint, which has to be solved anyhow. Once done, ability to retrofit things like the new steering wheel could be an attractive revenue stream. Some additional software management complexity might make it more trouble than it’s worth though I suppose.

Been using my R1T since Oct ‘22 as primary work truck in Landscaping business

I had wiper blades changed once at the Audi dealer for a stupid price. They also tried to charge a $15 per blade “environmental disposal fee”.

What Was Your Previous Daily Driver Before Rivian?

2016 Audi TTS, Daytona Grey. Fun car. Loved the look and the clean interior design. Surprisingly good utility with rear seats folded down given hatch and nice to have a little rarity. Ride is a bit rough even with suspension in comfort mode on rougher surfaces (like the 1.5 mile gravel road to...

Rivian's pricing problem... how do they solve it?

There are hundreds of Broncos sitting in the parking lot of a closed Ford facility it Belleville, MI (can be seen from I94). I wonder if they are waiting on a supply constrained part.

Sorry Corporal Butthead was following too closely. Glad everyone’s ok and hope Nationwide treat you properly.

Can the key fob be fixed by Rivian service centers?

I wish I could tell you - I got the call from service while out and didn’t note anything down. I recall having to tap the screen several times at the top and/or bottom and enter a password. There might have been another step.

Can the key fob be fixed by Rivian service centers?

I had my key fob become completely inoperable - I think it likely didn't complete the software update. Rivian took me into password protected parts of the vehicle OS to try and force the update without luck. I was then sent to the service center where a tech fixed it (I didn't see what they did...

Intelligence test should be required IMO

Read the topic title and thought …. To stand for election. Agree with the etiquette point. Another personal bug bear is people using the speaker phone functionality in public spaces like restaurants. Simple consideration of others should be sufficient without needing etiquette rules, but...

Pieces just all arrived to make my own manual one. These look excellent. Now wondering about whether to bother with the home made option or just wait

Rivian Head of Service Talks Growth With 34 Service Centers Now Open

Apparently R1T and R1S service is all moving from the Plymouth location to this one in Madison Heights. Personally, I wish Plymouth was still an option. Apparently Plymouth is going to just service Amazon vans going forward.

Recent Rivian factory tour observations on production, shifts, configurations

I think the Porsche style experience at the factory is a great idea. I recall back in the 90’s when I worked at GM, Saturn had a warranty recall for a wiring issue that could cause a fire in the engine compartment. Conventional wisdom at that time was that the best you could do with a warranty...

    Took Factory Delivery!

When passing through IL last month, we stopped to charge in Lincoln at the Walmart EA 350kW charger. We went to Obed and Isaac’s brewpub in town. Good food, great beer and service.
