If I am thinking about buying a Rivian, I am searching for reviews on YouTube.
I am sure they know of the vast majority of improvements that are needed. However, there is a cost associated with making those improvements and public attention to specific issues likely pushes Rivian to getting...
You nailed it. I am a long time EV enthusiast and Kyle/OOS has the best EV content on YT. However, Kyle seems heavily swayed by Rivian's attention to his previous video and reaching out.
This video almost seems like an ad for Rivian which is not like OOS. I was waiting for him to confirm that...
Those gaps adjacent to the mats are horrendous and further solidify my opinion that the OEM all weather mats are not a good option for Gen 2 owners. You need good coverage near the door thresholds to protect against snow/salt/water/dirt getting tracked in. Also no coverage under the pedal is a...
This was an odd/shocking realization for me. My old Tesla Model X had third row heat and this function is greatly needed in areas where temps dip below 20°F.
Pedal calibration for one-pedal EVs is a big deal and I don't think reviewers/publications pay enough attention to this detail. Tesla has perfected pedal calibration. I didn't realize I was spoiled until I drove my Rivian which isn't that bad, but needs work.
I tested the heat pump in my new Gen 2 R1S by cold soaking it in 0° F weather for 7 hours. Car performed really well! I was expecting it to struggle.

I love the look of the Sport Dark wheels. However, I do think they are too narrow and contribute to the alignment issues of the R1 cars.
What are the widths/tire sizes of the Range wheels? On the website it looks like Range wheels use Pirelli Scorpion MS tires instead of Scorpion Zero for the...
Yep. I have noticed this too. I usually avoid high regen, as it makes low speed throttle calibration worse.
Got to hand it to Tesla on their throttle calibration. Very smooth.
Also note in the 2024.47 update includes "enhanced cabin heating for colder climates", so heat pump performance may change.

Here are my results and some notes. Overall I am very happy with the performance of the heat pump after cold soaking in ~0° F temps for 7 hours.
Recap
Vehicle = Gen 2 2025 R1S Performance Dual Max, 1100 miles
Time + Outdoor Temperature = 7 hours @ -4° to 4° F
Starting SOC = 60%
Ending SOC...
I will time how long it takes to get warm. I didn't put a thermometer in the car, so will have to use the in-app reading.
Cool
Heat pump heated faster than PTC overall. For the heat pump - looks like it took about 7 minutes to get some slight warm air to come out of the vents. About 18...
Has anyone done cold weather testing on the new Gen 2 cars? Today I am letting my 2025 Gen 2 R1S Perf Max cold soak outside in -5 to 5 F weather today (normally my car sits in a heated garage). So far the car has been sitting outside for about 4 hours in this weather. I want to stress test the...
Originally I was planning to buy tuxmats but they still do not carry the 2025 version, so I bought LinerX mats to hold me over. I installed the LinerX mats yesterday. They provide good coverage and look okay. One issue I had was the 2nd row mats are designed too narrow so it takes a lot of...
