There seems to be an improvement to L1 charging in this release. Prior, the truck burned through so much energy that L1 charging was basically a wash -- that's not the case anymore as it's at least doing something.
I've placed an initial order for these. They are expected toward the end of the month. They will be produced in black only at this point. I'll post pictures of the real product when I get them.
I'm a bit concerned about how the grid will look on the batch produced models, but my contact says...
The amount of magnetism is driven by three factors:
The alignment of the pad with the sweet spot on your phone.
I like my phone to be all the way back against the beginning of the center console. (the resting against it helps keep in in place too) The pad should be just under the ring circle...
Update:
I've printed what I believe the final design for this is going to be. Here is what it looks like:
It comes in two bits that slide together. This will ensure that it's easily shipable and installable. As always on prototype pictures, please ignore the finish.
One panel is angled...
Update:
I've printed the solderless connector for the kit, and it has come out exactly how I hoped that it would. The terminal block fits right in, as does the connector for the truck. It snaps into place and everything is held together well.
The print itself is very easy to make. and...
Update:
One of the things that I wasn't really thrilled with on the first batch was the requirement for soldering. To that end, Ive been working on this:
I've reverse engineered the molex connector. Ideally, I'd like it to snap into a connector and mate with a terminal block like the...
Can you message me on the site instead of in this thread? We should be talking about the pad here, not USPS woes. In fact, I have a preference not to provide support in this thread at all as every situation is different. You are, of course, very welcome to post about your experience with the...
Final shipments are prepped and ready to go. They will be picked up tomorrow. At this point, I have zero pending orders.
If you're looking for one, I highly suggest snagging the used one for sale. The next full batch won't be until September. (if ever...)
PLA will warp terribly. My initial prints a while back were in it, and on the first day in the heat it went from hard to the pliability of a Twizzler. PETG or ABS are viable options, but ABS puts off noxious fumes while printing.
S00n.
Interestingly, we have been seeing a leak of what is included a few days beforehand for the last few releases in a row now. To date, I don't see one for the upcoming release.
Update:
The next batch of these will have a few changes:
The ball size will grow just slightly to ~17.2MM from ~17mm. This is to better size it with certain mounts. I'm going to print one of these and check with the three different mounts that I have here.
I've tweaked the location of the ball...
