At some point they stopped carrying over drive-mode specific regen. I think/hope this is a bug. It's still documented in the manual that it should default to low, and the "reset to default" button puts it to low if tapped.
I would encourage y'all to submit service tickets on this, particularly with the "warm" battery experience recently. I haven't encountered this, nor have a couple of others who I know who have Gen2 max packs, so at a minimum it would be good to formally flag it with Rivian.
I would note: my...
It's not fixed. The just fixed the part that was causing very frequent resets. It still doesn't negotiate power correctly.
Correct, not fixed. The Soonish Gen2 charger is great, but is stuck relying on two USB ports until Rivian gets the act together.
Just a different anecdote for you.
I...
That's not a winter behavior, it's just what they are preconditioning to on purpose. My R1S just did 6 to about 45% at ~200kw on Friday with it preconditioned to 95F. It did derate a bit, but it also hit their rated 41 minutes for 10-80%.
Conversely on Sunday I showed up at the same RAN with...

I killed a 1200w one accident (TL;DR, the Jackery requests more power from a single DC pin that it should), so I sized up. But it also gave me some confidence that they won't randomly blow up on me. I've also...
I totally get what you're going for with the DC-DC approach. It's just less straightforward than I was looking for, and I honestly don't care about some energy losses given the lack size (an two of the packs, lol).
The chargeverter from EG4 is... Expensive and overkill IMO.
With the Jackery...
Do you have your Gen2 yet?
This is a huge improvement over OEM honestly. We stopped using the stupid OEM charger almost immediately. Both our phones were sliding around, and it often caused them to overheat.
So a simpler (though less efficient) approach is to pull the AC from the truck and charge the Anker with DC. I'm assuming you understand that's what is happening with the Delta above, but just in case.
I'm also doing that with a Jackery 2000 plus.
I have this in our R1S. It's absolutely great. Functions significantly better than OEM and in my opiist as good.
@Sojhinn absolutely nailed it. Especially with keeping NFC compatibility. Rivian just needs to get the USBs fixed for it to be perfect.
Yup, that's basically my point. Mostly 1 and 2 though. I've never had mine not get up from say... 30F to 50F fairly easily, but I don't get to test it out too much in truly cold weather.
If that's all this problem is (which still seems a bit fishy) then Rivian needs to implement a fix to say...
