Snow Mode fail - costly result

Pressing the throttle to brake less is exactly why Iā€™ve never been a fan of one pedal drive. Itā€™s everyone following a dumb Tesla design. Polestarā€™s blended brake is 100% the way to go. I know thereā€™s OPD fans out there, but if we want adoption of EVs, expecting every random person to simply...

G1 motor fault and system fault

It seems like thereā€™s a lot of motor failures given how reliable electric motors generally are. Iā€™m wondering if their inductive heating tactic (which I assume is to then warm a battery heating circuit?) during charging is way too aggressive and theyā€™re just needlessly nuking these.

Rear ended by a Jeep Wagoneer

The number of rear end incidents feels like itā€™s taking off. IMO itā€™s not the brake light design, itā€™s that people need to chill out or gtf off their phones while driving. Just dodged one the other day where the car behind me continued to leave almost zero gap at every light, then they were...

"Drive stalk not working" error - anyone else had it, what had to be fixed

This sounds like you potentially had a drive failure, strangely in the front; Iā€™ve heard of some rears failing due to the clutch system that engages the rear motor. My guess is the drive stalk error in your case was only a symptom of a much larger failure, well beyond what is being experienced...

Cost of ownership, parts, and right to repair

Besides the ā€œwhereā€™s your ___ā€ is being a tired phrase, you definitely overpaid. Even the GT3, with its real dry sump system in contrast, still follows the normal ā€œpull plug, drain, refillā€ process.

Towing + Efficiency: Please post your experience!

Nice, our setups are very similar, Iā€™m actually even picking up AT dark wheels shortly. I also have the tire rack but removed it because I havenā€™t been carrying extra wheels and figured I might just use the truck bed anyway. Iā€™ll have to see how that works out with all the other junk I carry.

    R1T bricked in my driveway

Itā€™s under the front passenger seat, which IMO is kind of nuts. I get that design is difficult, but I would have taken less frunk storage and had it up front, assuming easier access than both what gen1 and 2 have. Iā€™ve definitely torn apart my fair share of cars and despite the inconvenience of...

    R1T bricked in my driveway

Iā€™m going to go out on a limb there and say that the trolling wasnā€™t referring to your shock and amusement at no battery failures in 25 years, but the bit about reaching out to Guinness. Amazingly enough, you added it a second time in this mildly confusing response. I cant tell whether youā€™re...

    R1T bricked in my driveway

Yes 1,000 was literal, believe it or not. I was recently at 999 waiting for that magic number to hit.

    R1T bricked in my driveway

The thing that really gets me is that the 12v isnā€™t easily user serviceable. Even with sudden failures, itā€™s neither sustainable nor practical to have to get towed. My Polestar 2 was also this way. Had a sudden 12v failure and it was dead in my garage. Figured Iā€™d try to swap the battery...

So much for the heated radar (gen 2)

Itā€™s been found in other EV that regen isnā€™t the best for maintaining highway speed. Many people disable OPD so that they can try to use as little power input as possible or lightly coast occasionally instead of quickly cycling between power and regen. That said, I havenā€™t used my R1T cruise...

370 mile sub zero Northern Wisconsin trip

WI is definitely sketchy as far as charging infra goes. I do an annual trip with friends to Road America and have found myself in interesting situations. One being a very slow L2 charger also offered at a contractor office building. Another was that the electrical wiring in the AirBnB garage we...

R1S shifts to park when backing trailer

Yeah, I even know about this one and it still catches me off guard sometimes when Iā€™m backing my trailer up

"Drive stalk not working" error - anyone else had it, what had to be fixed

Something unfortunate is that EV also happen to get an absurd amount of tech (much of it not even necessary or EV powertrain related) and we see a lot of weird quirks that need to be sorted out. I love the Rivian features but it is surprising that there's no basic cars that just have electric...

"Drive stalk not working" error - anyone else had it, what had to be fixed

Mine hasnā€™t come back, and because of that, I now have a gen2 that I canā€™t recall the last time it needed a reset. With the latest update, Iā€™ll see if that remains the case.

Out of Spec 10% Challenge of Gen2 R1T dual Max: Massively Negative!

I purely think about it in terms of charge time to added driving time: ā€œwhat do I get for a 15, 30 or 45min stop?ā€ Personally Iā€™ve felt that graphs donā€™t really map well to real world road trip experience.

20" Inch Goodyear Territory AT 275/60/20 Factory AT tires + saving $

I love the Goodyears. I never notice the road noise, the efficiency is relatively great, and they also look cool. Interested in seeing how they handle the much deeper snow that will hit at some point.

R1S Lease vs. Buy - I did the math

This is true in principle but do you ever actually want/have an insurance policy different than what they ask? > This is priceless. Technically it does have a price, which I know you know: "What the cash would have been worth if better spent elsewhere." Personally, I too think it's annoying to...
