    R2 TRI-MOTOR

Rivian is currently demand constrained with the basic cost to entry at $67k effectively. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that they would solve this problem by introducing a new model with a price point starting in the mid to high 60s. They need volume to get cogs down. They aren't going...

    R2 TRI-MOTOR

270 Miles is likely a 77kwh pack based on what we expect regarding efficiency of the R2. At the price point you're expecting, I'd expect a pack size of 105kwh and a range of 400 miles or more.

    R2 TRI-MOTOR

The new cell and pack structure takes advantage of new technology, applies lessons learned from R1 models, drastically reduces weight, and significantly reduces assembly time. All of which are crucial to the aim with R2 to produce at 2-3x the rate of R1 while reducing cost of production. You...

    R2 TRI-MOTOR

A few issues with that assumption: You're ignoring weight difference. I expect R2 Tri to have a better power to weight ratio due to significantly reduced weight. Pair that with a more aerodynamic profile R2 has a completely different pack structure from R1. It uses different cells, different...

    R2 TRI-MOTOR

I am skeptical that the R2 Ascent would start at $75k. Maybe high 60s but I doubt you'll crack $70k. They clearly said that the R2 Tri will have 0-60 "well under 3 seconds" which makes sense considering it will likely have the same or similar drivetrain to the R1S Tri but significantly lighter...

    Entrepreneur needed!

There are quite a few upfitters out there (big shops and relatively small) who could start placing orders for these if there is demand. I do think there are some limitations with the EDV that would make it a lot more difficult to convert to a camper van than some of the other platforms, but if...

Rivian Delivery 500 upfit for police duty by EV Sportline - Patrol EV Division

I'm not sure that a police van should look so happy and approachable from the front. Maybe you could give it a bull bar that makes it appear to have angry eyebrows?

R2 Dimensions: Cargo Space & Back Seat Width / Space (Measurements)

RJ said that the backseat has more legroom than the R1S

R2 Dimensions: Cargo Space & Back Seat Width / Space (Measurements)

So it'll be about 75" from the back of the driver seat to the tailgate. Depending on the width of the wheel arches and back glass, it could be possible to transport a full plywood sheet with the back glass rolled down and back seats down. That would be pretty great!

    Indecision

People who are generally happy with their vehicle mostly don't say anything. The minority who have bad experiences tend to be very vocal. Not to say that people don't have issues, but what you read online is not a representative sample.

"A mirage take shape Feb 19" - Rivian teasers [for new California Dune color?]

If the color is indeed a tan it would be awesome if they could revive Forest Edge interior because it would pair so well. I really want to see a saddle brown color for the interior.

"A mirage take shape Feb 19" - Rivian teasers [for new California Dune color?]

I get that the HQ is in California and a lot of the team is located there, but someone should tell the folks at Rivian that there are 49 other states with land features that can be used for names too. We already have 2 colors that are specific to California, do we really need another?

Other Manufacturers Kicking the Tires on Rivian Software / Interested in Partnership

I think @KW_88_SS @captainjp @Donald Stanfield might be missing the forest for the trees here. It really doesn't matter who's software is "better," only what the perceived value is. VW perceived value creating a JV with Rivian to the tune of $6 billion in investment. The origin of this thread...

Ford Says Large Electric Trucks And SUVs Have 'Unresolvable' Problems

I fundamentally disagree with this sentiment, and a legal framework exists for objectively false statements that are damaging or defamatory. The bar is (rightfully) high for burden of proof. The First Amendment doesn't say "Congress shall make no laws abridging upon the freedom of speech that is...

    Pics: R3X & R2 at 2025 Chicago Auto Show

I know it's not currently in the cards and that it's extremely unlikely, but I would be over the moon if Rivian pulled another "one more thing" and had a removable hardtop option for the R2. Nothing says outdoors more than open air cruising. I'd love to take a spring drive on the BRP with the...

Ford Says Large Electric Trucks And SUVs Have 'Unresolvable' Problems

Who cares about per capita? Qatar's per capita emissions are 4x the US. Canada also has worse per capita emissions than the US, but their total contribution is a drop in the bucket. China contributes over 1/3 of the total global emissions by themselves, more than the next 5 countries COMBINED...

Ford Says Large Electric Trucks And SUVs Have 'Unresolvable' Problems

Ok, cool. Now look at carbon emissions by country, using your same source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_carbon_dioxide_emissions who cares if you generate 3x as much renewable energy if you are also generating 3x as much carbon emissions as the next highest country? Also...
