Ha, yes the "Chinese Knock off" is real....
American's have been supporting them for years, they love their cheap shit from Walmart and the dollar stores...heck every store it seems cheap wins but in reality we all lose :(
This!
To all the haters of EV's out there, the fact that an R1S can do all of this still amazes me. Unfathomable a decade ago. Excited for the next developments (most from China) in the coming decade ahead that will eventually trickle down to all EV's.
OP, It seems like you're seeing Rivian as an established car company with regular update intervals. They are still very much a start up with a lot of uncertainty ahead. From my understanding, Gen 2 R1's were driven from development of R2 and the cost savings associated with that.
Like others...
There are too many humans on this planet, and we're all told to buy a lot of shit because capitalism is the way of the world. How about we go back to 5 or 6 billion? Natural attrition of course, perhaps incentivize those who do not want to reproduce...just a thought :)
Well, efficiency is always going to have a seat at the table...there's more to it in an EV than just the motors. Yes, I agree not everyone wants to drive an egg but that low Cd (.24 ) is certainly not the only reason Lucid is able to achieve same range with a much smaller and lighter battery...
I believe efficiency is over looked as well. For example, look at the Gravity vs Escalade IQ....both have range of approx. 450 miles. GM's product uses a massive 200+ kWh battery vs Lucid's 120 kWh, that's a huge difference!
I was wondering, the scenario described of getting locked out when in carwash mode seems like it would happen often...as many vacuum right after a wash.
That's what's so crazy about this administration trying to rescind the loan and the other IRA funds...many RED states are benefiting tremendously.
American manufacturing, high tech automotive sector...exactly what Trump is pushing for.
There are many in his own party turning already....
Back to this thread and Rivian, does anyone know why construction isn't slated to start until 2026?
I'm not claiming to be constitutional law expert either, but like everyone, has access to searching for legit information out there. There are multiple sources stating laws have been broken, that's all. Ultimately this will be decided in the courts...wasting time and money.
Well it doesn't look good at the moment, but yes all speculation if they will receive the loan or not. If they do not, then the long legal battles. What a hot mess.
