Rivian switched to single battery in middle of 2023. Harness changes were very minimal until the Gen2 refresh. Extremely minimal changes from 2022 to 2024 beyond worse stereo system, removal of 12v frunk outlet, removal of 12v under dash, replaced wood trim on back of seat to plastic, change...
The commercial segment of people who buy trucks to use as trucks is still pretty massive. In 2023 Ford showed that 43% of their overall Fseries sales were fleet vehicles. The only reason Ford has gone 47 years as the best selling truck is due to their heavy commercial sales of work trucks.
There is a ton more involved than just the motor with overall efficiency. Donāt forget when Porsche came out with a 2 stage transmission on the Taycan for highways speeds. Alone it increased the highway efficiency 4-5%. Teslas addition of the heat pump in 2018 also dramatically increased...
Efficiency still plays a big part too. In 2016 the Tesla Model X 90D was averaging 410 Wh/mi at 70mph/75F and 520 Wh/mi at 70mph/15F . 8 years later the 2024 Tesla Model X averages 345 Wh/mi at 70mph/75F and 442 Wh/mi at 70mph/15F. 15% more efficient in just 8 years is really impressive...
A fair number. In 2024, the F150 lighting ended up outselling the F150 hybrid. Lighting sales in 2024 went up 60% over 2023, is only behind the Cybertruck in overall EV truck sales and double the R1T sales. Overall, the ICE F150 commercial truck is nearly $20k cheaper than the base Lighting...
The Lighting really is a great EV. Ford really built a great vehicle and surprised people with several features that are incredibly useful for its purpose as a work truck, like the frunk seating, laptop tray, frunk power outlets, and V2H power share and V2L supporting high wattage. The...
He isnt wrong, owners of large EVs absolutely have to make accommodations for their shortcomings. But he should say the problems are unsolvable. He should simply say the problems are unsolvable with current battery technology. It is only a matter of time until those problems can be overcome.
I have a Model X and R1S. Even the Model X is too small for our needs when taking the whole family. Currently only use the Model X as an errand vehicle, when I dont have everyone with me. Both are great for different purposes.
Really suggest getting a Gen 1 over 2 purely based on cost. The...
It is comical because when Consumer Reports ranked Rivian as top in customer satisfaction, there was several posts praising CR and agreeing with their findings. But if they dare claim a brand new car brand has some quality issues out of the gatesā¦ grab the pitchforks!
This forum is wild to me. I constantly see posts complaining about various issues, failures, and problems on their Rivian. Every month is a new thread complaining about service centers being backed up months to get an appointment to get anything fixed. Then as soon as any media organization...
It is a common misconception that the magnuson moss warranty act (MMWA) actually protects you or requires manufacturers to prove anything. They can and absoultly will deny warranty claims simply by claim the aftermarket part caused the failure. The MMWA simply states the use of an aftermarket...
Your example will impact very few. There are also threads in this forum with people DIYing battery changes for almost nothing. Seems more like grasping at straws.
Volvo uses AGM batteries just like Rivian and many other manufacturers. Theyāre generally about double the cost of a basic lead acid.
March 2023, Rivian switched to a single 12V battery. Thankfully most owners will never have to worry about a $700-800 battery change. $250 for an OEM battery isnāt that out of the ordinary. Hell even my wifeās Volvo runs $650 to replace OEM battery at dealership.
Tesla universal really is the best wall charger to buy at the moment. There is a decent chance your next EV you buy will have a NACS port. As future proof as you can get right now.
The Tesla one just works, no dumb gimmicks. Itās tried and true and easiest to sell in the future if you ever go...
Again, vast majority of Rivians are still under warranty and isnt an issue. Very small percentage of people out of warranty who want to work on their own cars can get parts from service center (albeit painfully), its just not a big priority for Rivian to establish a parts department yet. This...
