I think there can be a fair debate whether NEVI was needed given how EA, Tesla, Rivian and others have and are building out a national fast charging network. The biggest gain for all of us has been Tesla opening up the supercharger network rather than the handful of chargers planned through NEVI.
Not sure why USAID was brought into this as it is irrelevant to a discussion on EVs. Also seems from reports that a lot of money was wasted and not spent on aid to needy people but on media like Politico and the BBC.
Was a shame it took so long for the funding appropriated nearly four years ago to actually be spent. Also there is a strong case that this $5b is not needed since Tesla, EA, Rivian and others were building charging stations without the subsidy. In addition the subsidy locks in CCS.
Just checked the configurator and the app is correct that the dual max comes with wood as standard. They had made all dual motor adventure turns come with vinyl as standard and then up charge $700 to get wood. Wonder why they didn’t stick with that and make some more money.
R1 is critical this year and will continue to be a source of revenue into the future.
YoY can be compared because seasonal aspects are taken out. They are not production limited - hence the incentives.
Good for you. Back in the real world with hundreds of millions of drivers a hybrid has a 40-50% reduction in emissions compared to a typical ICE vehicle. With no special charging infrastructure, no change in the drivers habits (except going to the gas stations less often) and a small increase in...
Not sure that is true since hybrids are a very cost efficient and consumer friendly approach to reducing fuel usage significantly. The move to hybrids will reduce oil consumption significantly as we await BEVs to ramp up.
from my recollection they got nothing they wanted (stopping military flights, stopping handcuffing, or stopping flights). Anyway let’s keep it on cars.
Very hard for others to adapt to not having the US as a market. Germany is an export driven economy as is China so they absolutely need an economy that is 24% of the worlds economy but only 4% of the population. These tariffs will be short lived on Canada and Mexico once they enforce immigration...
