  1. Hudson, NH Service Center in the works

This would be so much better than going to Chelsea!
  2. Gen2 Heat Pump power consumption observation

Ok so the savings, if regular driving is ~40kW, could be about 10% with the heat pump. That is actually pretty material. I would still prefer the resistive heater but 10% range is not nothing.
  3. Snow / ice chains on a quad R1T?

Having to put chains on and take them off every time you leave your driveway is probably going to be a drag (they probably don’t want you driving with your chains on in the town because it is hard on pavement). If it were just snow, your best bet would be to put on winter tires for the winter...
  4. Gen2 Heat Pump power consumption observation

What's interesting with Rivians is that the battery capacity is so large and the power required to move the vehicle is so much higher than typical EVs (especially compared to something like a model 3), that the overall % spent on heating is much smaller. On the model 3, the switch to heat pump...
  5. Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Solution is Coming Soon... (seriously) -- by EV Play

Is the audio integration tied to which UI is showing on the display or can your device play audio even while the Rivian UI is on the display? For instance, can you have carplay on your device pause any Rivian audio playback, and announce incoming text messages and listen for voice dictation of...
  6. Tonneau open or closed during snow?

I tried this today. If you turn on the defrost from climate controls in the app, it turns on both the front and the rear defrost. So technically there is a way to toggle this from the app, unfortunately it is coupled to the super hot front defroster. I guess it is likely in many cases where you...
  7. Charging locations along 93

Thanks! Out of curiosity, how do you inform Rivian of issues like this?
  8. Charging locations along 93

How do we report these back to Rivian so they can update their app? BTW, does it show up in the car nav?
  9. Good app for keeping track of charging?

Definitely makes sense, good point. TezLab phone app is well done, and is a true native mobile app. ElectraFi just shows a desktop webpage scaled down to your phone. I only use ElectraFi on my laptop.
  10. Good app for keeping track of charging?

TezLab is another option. They have maybe a slicker app UI and definitely the app owner is invested in the product. However even if the UI is more basic, I ended up preferring ElectraFi and ABRP.
  11. HVAC settings recommendations while parked and waiting in car

The other nice thing is camp courtesy is persistent even if you get into or out of your car from what I can tell, until you switch into drive (but remember to turn your headlights back on).
  12. HVAC settings recommendations while parked and waiting in car

I like to use Camp Courtesy when waiting in my car. It ensures headlights and parking lights are off, which is nice at night so you don't disturb others with headlights on for a long time; and it ensures the HVAC runs quieter, again avoiding disturbing others. If you are in a place with a lot...
  13. iOS App v2.18.0 and Android 2.18 Released

Is this a real concern? I thought the air suspension raises and lowers all the time during driving, depending on distribution of weight/passengers in car, etc., anyway? Lowering once everytime when parking seems like a small incremental strain on the suspension. Would be great if someone...
  14. cold weather driving range

Also, wanted to add that ABRP live data collects the battery temperature. I don't know if it actually uses that in its calculations. Here's a snapshot from the ABRP website of the live data from my vehicle, you can see the battery temp reported:
  15. cold weather driving range

One option that might work is on your way home to drive to the closest L2 charger you can find, plug in for about an hour to get your battery temperature up, and then drive home. You should get better range that way. Also, if you drove up into the mountains, I would think to get the best...
  16. Tonneau open or closed during snow?

I believe there is a heating element where the wipers rest and you activate it with the rear defrost button (odd UX choice I think). I’m with you on the headlights although someone posted about a recent patent Rivian filed to address that issue. Unclear it will show up in a real product but...
  17. New RAN stations in Placerville, CA and Cisco, TX are now operational

Does this site track all compatible superchargers (even those that need a converter), or only the v4 ones that don't need any special converters? I'm asking because I know of at least one supercharger site that works with a converter (I know because I've used it ;-) ), but there is no...
