First Big Test of SuperCharger Access Has Arrived

I should make a post about my adventure, but over the last week I moved from Tucson, AZ to Arlington, VA in my T. Did it in about 6 days, including two days in Austin and two nights in Nashville. Stopped at a bajillion Tesla Superchargers, as well as a slew of Rivian/EVGo/EA chargers. Rarely had...

Finally happened to me… 1st gen tonneau cover borked

Two weeks before Iā€™m set to move from AZ to VA, my OG tonneau cover bit the dustā€¦ Iā€™ve normally been good at PTFEā€™ing the rails and slats, but I guess itā€™s been a dusty summer and itā€™s been a while since I did it. Now, Iā€™m hastily calling Rivian to see about getting the slats patched (i.e...

    Gear Guard Intermittent Connection

Same issue here! Glad Iā€™m not the only one and came to the forum searching for ā€œdisappearedā€. Hard restart workedā€¦ for like a day. I was about to include it in my appointment tomorrow for (what I thought would be related) borked ADAS system. Looks like a software glitch from the recent update...

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

They called me back and moved it up to 9/13. Getting closer to this Friday which would be more ideal, but I get it, theyā€™re backed up. But yeah, leaving them with my truck and keeping the loaner wouldā€™ve made a lot more senseā€¦

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

Just got off the phone with the Rivian support number folks. I told them about my issue and how it was left in this state by the Phoenix service center, where I cannot comfortably complete any trips I had planned. He had my try a "sleep cycle" (turn off bluetooth, motion gear guard, etc. for 30...

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

Maybe I'll have to road trip up to ColoSpgs soon to see some old friends and have work done up there... :P

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

That's my plan today after the long weekend. It really does suck, since it's one of those unsung hero's of vehicles these days, especially when driving on AZ highways with idiots zooming by at 120+ all the time.

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

Ahh, good idea. I don't tow very often, so I've only been in tow mode when I plug in the brake light connector. I'll try to get 'er in tow mode to test basic CC today. But yeah, it was bent, not broken! šŸ˜… The moment it happened, I knew some metal moved around... When I went to look, it seemed...

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

While very frustrating and annoying indeed, the upside is Iā€™m seeing what itā€™s like to log hundreds of miles in ā€œmanual drivingā€ modeā€¦ not going to lie, I like being driven around on the highway, although it is kind of nice to experience driving again šŸ˜…

Tie Rod Replaced, SC left me with new issue…

Back in late May, I submitted a SC appointment to have the axles greased due to the infamous tock noise. My appointment was made for 8/19 in Phoenix, the earliest available. Fast forward from May to late July, I accidentally bent the front right tie rod during a desert excursion. Woops. They...

Lost right thumb control of garage door opener after 2024.27.01 Update

I too have this issue after the update. For a second wondered if it was something to enable or disable in settings now, but couldnā€™t find out. I use it all the time too šŸ˜

Tucson, AZ to Playa Palomas, Sonora, Mexico

I was definitely sweating bullets towards the endā€¦ when I left Tucson, Rivian nav on my phone suggested Iā€™d arrive with 62 miles. When I arrived with 28 miles, it was like Kevin Costner seeing land for the first time in WaterWorld šŸ˜‚

Thatā€™s awesome! If we were near Rocky Point, Iā€™d continue using that same route via Ajo like you described. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you like being in the middle of nowhere), itā€™s a risk driving the extra 68 miles down MX-3 to ā€œ15 de Septiembreā€ including west from there for 9ish miles...

Tucson, AZ to Playa Palomas, Sonora, Mexico

Ahhh yes yes, that random little ā€œstop signā€ by the Red Cross donation. I keep it at 40 km/h until the highway picks up about a mile and a half later. Then itā€™s flat out if I have plenty of range. In my previous fast ICE car era, that was a flat out 150+ mph cruise-control highway.

Hah! Yeah I make it a point to double check Iā€™m leaving my EDC at home before setting offā€¦ We go through Lukeville/Sonoita, which is WAY faster than Noggie. The wait time yesterday was 1 car in front of meā€¦ maybe 75 seconds? Nogales can be a real shit show sometimes.

Yeah, itā€™s the trap for Americans going down to Rocky Point haha. I think if I had the 21ā€ road tires, Iā€™d be fine making it in one go. Itā€™s tough going slower and hoping there arenā€™t any wind speeds to increase range loss. Maybe Iā€™ll upgrade to the 400 mile R1 eventuallyā€¦ that said, the house...

It does help I speak Spanish whenever that happens, which is pretty rare lately. Weā€™ve been going down for about 15 years and have had to pay off local cops maybe a total of $160 in that time. Itā€™s also good to keep in mind the local speed limit in Sonoyta, 25mph max! Thatā€™s where they getcha...
