I have 21k miles on my R1T and it's now been in the shop for its third visit. The first was for a punchless of items I discovered in the few months after delivery (I give vehicles a pass on this as they are all allowed some growing pains). The second was for a leaky CV boot that was seen the...
One thing to note is that if you go with the 34" tire, then Rivian says NO to chains...only snow socks. If you have dedicated winter tires on 33" tires, the changes of needing chains are pretty low, but you'd still have the option. 33" tires on 20" wheels will also likely be less $$$.
After the last update, mine randomly unlocks...even when I'm not near it. All of the sudden I'll get a notice in the app "your truck is unlocked." This mostly happens at home.
In an update sometime in about the last year, Rivian added "blended braking" which is where the car will automatically apply the brakes as needed in addition to pure regen. This option is on by default however you can turn it off. The thought here is that if regen is limited for some reason...
I hear ya....that truck seems to need to go higher and higher each time. To help I've resorted to putting 2 2x6 under the jack.
And as for that blasted air hose in the gear tunnel door....I've removed it once and it's like doing origami with no opposable thumbs to get it back in there. Yep...
One glaring omission in this logic is that when on a road trip, very few ICE drivers only purchase 4 gallons of gas at a time, much less 4 gallons of gas to drive 200ish miles. I just completed a round trip from the SF Bay Area up to Seattle and back on Saturday and the total cost of...
Agreed....so long as there is tread on the tires, they typically don't care. If you've rotated the tires and kept them aired properly, theses tend to last longer than 15k miles. I have 19k on mine and they are at least 7/32" average tread depth. I'd look for uneven wear that may indicate an...
1. The noise may be related to a recent TSB Rivian has out on these vehicles. It's drivable, but it does make noise. More on that here.
2. My Pirelli AT20s haul like a wolf at the moon and that's a common complaint about these tires when they get about 15k on them. Some have said they tend...
One thing I discovered the other day is the blind spot camera function works when in reverse as well as forward. We don't parallel park that much around here so that's the first I've seen that feature. In addition to parallel parking, this could also be useful when backing a trailer as It'll...
I have a Wallbox Charger and it's very dependable and charges the Rivian with no muss nor fuss. Occasionally when it finishes charging the Tesla Roadster it will error and need to be reset at the fusebox. I credit this more to the Tesla (which is a hand made tempermental little shit that...
I had one for a day when my R1T was in the shop. It had about 2500 miles on it and managed to throw a "critical battery error, service immediately." I then took it back to Enterprise and made that issue their problem to deal with.
I use a 1-Up Superduty to haul our ebikes thet are about 55-60 each. That rack will hold up to 200# (I believe) so there's plenty of spare capacity.
The hitch receiver is pretty recessed on the Rivian and the bike rack sits REALLY REALLY close to the truck - and the bikes sit up really high. I...
Miles of drop per day isn't really a helpful number for most of us in this case as some of us have about 285 miles and others have 400ish at 100% charge with only about 10kWh difference in battery size. I think percent would be a better number to share here.
My Quad with AT 20 Pirelli's looses...
Since the last SW update, my charge port lock has behaved differently. When I come out after the truck has finished charging but it asleep, the charge cord is locked to the truck and will not release until the doors are unlocked. One time I had to get in and put my foot on the brake pedal and...
As others have said these TPMS systems take a few blocks to wake up...and they do so by the rotational force of the wheels spinning. Rivian recently updated the system to shodshow you the last time it had a reading (in the OP case 8am). Once the system has an accurate reading from the tires...
