I liked the idea of a luxury EV that was actually luxurious. But I can't afford those kind of prices.
What I'd really like is the Rolls Royce Cullinan, but can't afford that either. Cost more than my house.
This would give me the excuse to visit a lot of friends that are too spread out to fly to visit. Add going through some great Utah trails sites.
But Laguna Beach is right next door. If delivery can take place there, Normal to SoCal may be too much in comparison.
This will be my third EV. First had 100 mile range. Second had 75 mile range (strictly a commuter car). I made both work without much trouble.
For me, where I go and how I drive, I want 310 mile range. "300+" will be 'good enough'. So 135kw R1T for me. :like:
If I could just get one...
Except Amazon will be saying "absolutely no games in our vans. They are work vehicles". They won't care what anyone else gets (unless it is Amazon Prime with Unlimited Music). Sure won't care about Disney+.
I started driving about the time seatbelts became required. NO ONE wanted them. No one wanted to pay for them in the increased price of the car, They never would have happened without government regulations. I happen to approve of seatbelts.
Guess what? Airbags. Same thing.
Passed senate only, now goes to house. Not law yet.
It doesn't really work like that. You still register, and thus pay tax, in your home state. You just BUY it out of state.
You can even have it delivered (by a third party) in your state, so you never need to leave home.
These laws are silly.
I, too, felt they were just one more hyped startup... until the Amazon order & investment.
That's all that stands between several wannabe EV startups and real products, adequate investment.
So that is when I started researching them, then ordered.
