Video: Preproduction R1T Begin Rolling Off The Line!

I like the more muted look of that paint. It's good to have options.

Video: Preproduction R1T Begin Rolling Off The Line!

I worry about the sun visor thing as well. My Subaru screen becomes unreadable in full sunlight. Was hoping for a visor or some kind of slant which would reduce glare. I did confirm via email with Rivian that there would be tow hooks font and back. So they must have them hidden in some way...

    Air Handling and Filtration

Since I must have some outlet for my increasing level of anticipation of the configurator, I've been thinking of different aspects of using this vehicle in the hills. The hills may have eyes, but they're dusty too. I noticed this in my Subaru the other day. Dust everywhere on the interior and I...

Rivian R1T to participate in the 2020 Rebelle Rally

That's a good question. Wondered the same thing. Perhaps they just cover the screens? Leave speedo uncovered?

    Ordering and Warranty?

They have to state what the epa cycle results were. Thus the 400 mile quote. The "plus" is if you drive more efficiently than the cycle (such as all city driving). From their "long way up" adventures, they stated that the 135 kWh pack got 314 miles on their best day. And still had 'tricity left...

Rivian R1T to participate in the 2020 Rebelle Rally

They are going to use a pre-production model. It states so about halfway through this article. Which means that their performance will probably be less refined than what we will be getting our hands on next summer (the lucky ones, at least)...

Off-Roading 101: Ford and Jeep Compete & Whither Rivian

Much of what is being discussed are serious niche applications. And the points above may be spot on. I suspect that many of the fears will be unfounded in application. I also suspect that after market modifications will address any shortcomings. In particular the tires. Most people aren't...

R1T accessories & options wish list.

Copy that. What I heard in Denver was a drop from 3 meters onto a 2 inch spike. Seemed impossible, but that's what the rep said.

Are any commonly-seen vehicle seats truly "cooled"? I thought they were all ventilated. The Rivian's will be ventilated.

Rear Seat - cargo space/flat floor in the future?

I just wish that Rivian would have designed the R1T rear seats to allow for a lot more cargo space by exposing a flat floor in the rear cab. I agree. My wife's Silverado has this type of seat and we use it A LOT for many different purposes. It would be a nice touch.

Gasp... pure touch interfaces aren't what consumers want

Looking at numerous pictures of the steering wheel, there appears to be two thumbwheels. They probably control all of the features of the touchscreen. Couple that with voice control and I think I can get used to it.

Rivian Battery Poll - VOTE HERE

The chevy belongs to my wife and I would NEVER take it where I go! She keeps that thing pristine!

    Wyoming

Rawlins would be a pretty good place for a charger as well. And/or Green River to cover that corridor. Probably both to account for the wind and foul weather on I-80. I don't get down that way much as I do most of my adventures in the wind rivers and bighorns. There are 4-5 Tesla destination...

    Wyoming

Clark, I have much the same plan as you. What part of Wyoming? I'm in casper. Just talked to someone at Electrify America and asked for chargers in Shoshoni, Cody and Sheridan. They have submitted my proposal. I don't know what good that does, but at least they know there is at least some demand...

Rivian Battery Poll - VOTE HERE

I feel that I have no other choice than to go with the 180 kWh battery. I live in Wyoming and there are currently ZERO CCS chargers here. There are a couple of level two's for emergencies, but my reality is that my battery will have to be enough for most of my excursions round-trip. I've talked...

Wait. GM Actually wanted Rivian to just give up their own EV plans?

GM wasted their potential lead through organizational inertia. They thought they were always going to be the big dog, when in reality, they are in decline.

Rivian Battery Poll - VOTE HERE

I live in a CCS charging desert (Wyoming) and there are precious few level 2 chargers as well. Unless I hear of Rivian-branded chargers making huge inroads into my lovely and spacious state, I need the range to get to my favorite spots, and get back home on a single charge.

R1T accessories & options wish list.

I talked to one of the engineers in Denver. He said one of their battery pack armouring tests was to drop THE TRUCK from 3 meters onto a 2 inch spike (I don't know why they mixed metric and imperial units). Anyway, no damage resulted. Seems impossible, but that is what he said
