I’m not sure about the second point, but to the first point I would say it seems like a solid number!
I did some math on the conversion rate for the Model 3, and based on the numbers...
I put in my order for the R1S back in December of 2018, and my Shop app says I’m order #3770
Edit: Is it possible that these order numbers are just the Shop/Arrive app’s internal counter? Like, I’m the Xth person to order the vehicle while the app was installed, as opposed to the number being...
It’s possible, but that would kinda negate the whole “Late Summer/Right Around The Corner/Very Soon” line that Rivian has been giving us lately.
I’m still holding out hope that we’ll see the configurator August/September. Given that the actual vehicles are now further out than we expected, I...
From what I recall, the point of releasing the most fully-loaded vehicles first is to get as much of their (Rivian’s) tech out in the wild as soon as possible. I assume they want to know about any problems ASAP, so it makes sense to me
I think the long and short of it is that Rivian has, since the beginning, presented themselves as the producer of high-tech luxury(ish) vehicles. They never said they were going after fleet sales or the blue collar sector.
Sure, you do exclude certain market segments by going upscale and...
Quite possible. I just wanted to see what they said, tbh.
The way I use the phrase at least, “Right Around The Corner” is far more immediate/imminent than “later this year”
Who knows, perhaps we’ll all get a pleasant surprise and the configurator will show up sooner than expected
I decided to email them last Friday and inquire about the configurator, just to see if I got “Late Summer” or “Later This Year”
Turns out, I got neither!
Who wants to try and speculate as to what “Right Around The Corner” means?
Well, one could argue that “Late Summer” (August/September) would still qualify as “Later This Year”
So as an eternal optimist, I’m going to hope it’s just a phrasing issue and not another configurator delay
My understanding was that the original goal was for the first R1Ts to go out in like December, with the majority being delivered in Q1 of 2020. The R1S was then supposed to follow in like March/April. So with the COVID delay, I’m sorta just adding 2 months to the delivery times.
