  1. Poll: How many service center visits did your R1 require in the first year of ownership?

I got the recall done as soon as they announced it, and I don't recall at the time whether mobile service was available in my area yet. Also I'm disqualified from a lot of mobile service calls anway since my driveway is heavily sloped, so I never check. :-) But that's a fair point, I can...
  2. Poll: How many service center visits did your R1 require in the first year of ownership?

[edit: 3] times 1) Fix OTA updates failure, attempted HVAC fix (unsuccessful), attempted suspension fix (unsuccessful), halfshaft squeaks (partial progress), shattered front camera lens (_really_ unlucky rock strike) 2) HVAC fix (successful, they actually listened to me this time), suspension...
  3. Corte Madera RAN open now

I was actually passing through there just a few weeks ago on the way to/from a camping trip in the redwoods. It's well-placed to continue the sequence with the Ukiah and Fortuna chargers headed up the coast, for various outdoorsy trips in that area. Unfortunately it looks like this one doesn't...
  4. Pebble Flow Electric Camper - Competition for Lightship RV

I don't see a problem. Volumetric density isn't a big problem since the trailer has a lot of subfloor to work with (though it might be why the waste tanks are combined, to save some underfloor space). Gravimetric density also isn't super important, since it's a trailer anyway; it will just eat...
  5. Pebble Flow Electric Camper - Competition for Lightship RV

Definitely! I hadn't mentioned it in this list since the Lightship does something very similar: their higher trim level (Long Range) has drive-assisting motors also, though I don't know what the Lightship's regen braking behavior is since they have been vague about it.
  6. Pebble Flow Electric Camper - Competition for Lightship RV

Oh, I forgot an obvious difference: The Pebble is single-axle; the Lightship is double-axle. Single-axle makes the low speed self-navigating feature easier. But it's also weird to see a trailer this long and heavy with only one axle. That seems borderline dangerous.
  7. Pebble Flow Electric Camper - Competition for Lightship RV

It's great to see competition in this space! For the benefit of future readers, some notable differences between the Pebble Flow and the Lightship L1, as far as I've been able to scrape from their ad copy: The big one (which DaveA mentioned above): The Pebble isn't hi-lo, which changes the...
  8. Will this cooktop burner work with Rivian?

Exactly this. It's a pure resistive load, no motors or capacitors or inrush current or anything like that. Turning the dials turns up the watts. As long as you don't turn it too high on both burners, you're good.
  9. Forest Edge Owners - Any Regrets?

I've had Forest Green / Forest Edge for a year now. Absolutely no regrets, love it, totally worth it. I spend a lot of time up in the PNW, and I feel like FG/FE matches very nicely with the Douglas firs. :-)
  10. Current Rivian owners - What’s one change that would make you happier?

I have a long wish list but this is the biggest one: A stronger and quieter AC compressor. The current one runs like a weedwhacker just to produce weak cabin cooling and mediocre battery thermals. It's embarrassing to be running louder than all the nearby ICE cars even when I'm just sitting at a...
  11. Preconditioning Fan Louder on 2023.18.0?

I've noticed exactly the same thing. I first noticed it 6-8 weeks ago, on a road trip. At the time I thought it was a side effect of a recent HVAC repair. Sounds exactly the same as in your video. It's so loud!
  12. Charging portable power stations (Anker, PointZero) from AC outlet maxes out at 750W not 1500W

Thanks, this is helpful info. So if there's a limit somewhere in the system that's just a function of the power draw, and not anything about the particular unit, then that limit is somewhere between 1100W (your Delta 2 Max, which works) and 1250W (both DC chargers together on my Titan, which...
  13. Charging portable power stations (Anker, PointZero) from AC outlet maxes out at 750W not 1500W

I'm having a bit of an odd problem with the AC outlets on my R1T and I thought I'd document it here in case anyone else is seeing the same problems. I have been experimenting with a couple of portable power stations, like the PointZero Titan and the Anker Powerhouse 767, to power an RV. Since...
  14. If your AC is weak, make them check for a leak

Update: Air conditioning performed well for the entire road trip, no more issues. I have also noticed that the truck can now maintain DC fast charging at higher kW for longer and at higher states of charge. On previous trips I would sometimes hit DC charge rate limitations with the message...
  15. If your AC is weak, make them check for a leak

That's why I took it back in as soon as I realized that the AC was getting weaker again. I still can't figure out why they didn't check for a leak the first time, since it would be weird for the refrigerant to be undercharged at the factory. Possible, I guess, with Rivian's build validation...
  16. If your AC is weak, make them check for a leak

I got my R1T in September of last year, in the middle of a heat wave. I noticed even at delivery that the AC seemed a bit weak, but I figured it was probably just fighting 100F+ external temps. Over the next couple of months I kept noticing that the AC wasn't doing a very good job, and after...
  17. Front suspension drops overnight

Update on this: I just got my truck back from the SC in San Jose. The first time I went in a couple of months ago, they said it was a "suspension calibration" issue and that it was fixed, but the behavior was still the same. I brought it back in a second time last week, and they identified it as...
  18. Lightship Electric RV Trailer: travel trailer with solar panels and a self-propulsion system

I've been looking forward to this for a few months, to see what they came up with. I feel like they ticked all of the boxes for aero and efficiency, but the price is too high relative to the actual value. Like many of y'all I would be fine with a trailer that doesn't push itself, and similarly...
  19. RAN Rivian Charging Stations Locations Map via Google Maps

Super excited about the Quartzsite charger! I made two separate CA <-> AZ trips through there in December. The EA charger in Quartzsite was very unreliable, and I once had to wait over an hour to charge there. It will be great to have a reliable charger there.
  20. Front suspension drops overnight

I got mine back from the SC today. I do still see a bit of droop on the front end but it's too early to say for sure (my driveway is on a slight incline so it may just be trying to self-level). SC claims it was a "calibration" issue and not a leak; time will tell. I'll try it on even ground...
