  2. R1T Leasing Coming Later This Year

I have never ā€˜owned’ a leased vehicle, so I don’t understand how leasing works including the pros & cons. Can you guys please explain why I should consider leasing vs buying my future R1T? Thanks much!
  3. Failed towing experience

Isn’t that what the right lane is for? Slower moving vehicles?
  4. Failed towing experience

70 MPH + 10 MPH headwind = 80 MPH wind speed hitting the truck. Ambient temperature can have a big affect on range as well. Cold weather is also detrimental to range as is rain, snow, etc. Lastly, I strongly recommend you check the speed rating on the trailer tires. They can easily...
  5. Rivian cost cutting suggestion: Lose the camp speaker

Personally, I would prefer a LOUD horn instead of a camping speaker that adds cost, weight, & may never be used by us since we finally gave up camping 2 years ago. Iā€˜d rather Rivian sell it as an after market item instead of including it with the truck.
  6. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

And as I asked the forum before, what happens in a few months when Rivian stops installing the tracks on trucks unless the order includes the manual tonneau cover? This is my concern because our configuration (dual motor, standard pack) will not be produced for at least a year.
  7. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

You are correct regarding trees as sustainable crops. Case in point. I just took this photo from our deck and the trees center-right were all cut down in the past 3 days. We’ve lived here for 10 years and we’ve observed the loggers (Weyerhaeuser I believe) have harvested all the trees in the...
  8. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

So if the cable is darn sensitive & not to be touched, why not simply eliminate the problem by installing a removable cover to prevent someone like me from accidentally grabbing it & giving it a tug? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  9. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

Now I understand and agree the hood is a much larger concern. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It just so happens that Rivian is bout to open up the showroom in Seattle and we’re gojng to go take a look & ask a lot of questions, with the hood & the manual tonneau cover now added to the list.
  10. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

I’m not sure what you’re referring too because we don’t own one yet, but we do have a reservation. I’m waiting for the dual-motor standard pack option because that’s all I need since we are both retired.
  11. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

And what if we’re not home when the storm hits because we travel a lot in the winter.
  12. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

We live in the beautiful mountains of the Pacific Northwest and it is not unusual to get 24" of snow from one storm or a pair of back to back ones. At 20#/cubic foot the total load on the tonneau cover would be approximately 767#, a far cry from just a few bags of groceries or several cases of...
  13. Received my manual tonneau cover and the slats already broke

I can only imagine how pi$$ed off you guys are at Rivian that were expecting a durable tonneau cover & I don’t blame you at all, especially after paying that kind of money on the hope the design will be robust. But here’s the real problem as I see it. Sometime before the end of the year Rivian...
  14. Seattle grand opening!

My wife & son are planning on going because we have yet been able to see a Rivian up close & personal, get a good look at the colors, not to mention asking a few questions. it will be a while before we’ll be proud owners though because my Wife has decreed we must wait for the dual motor...
  15. R1T Shop out of inventory

Of course there’s plenty of inventory at the factory because RJ & Rivian get to pocket most of the $1800 you still have to pay for shipping & delivery. That’s like 100% profit to them. Then, to add insult to injury you’ll have to pay for airfare or fuel to get to Normal, plus hotel & food, &...
  16. Dont get too happy just yet, Tesla SCs are designed for Teslas.

That’s simply an idiotic statement to make. If I was taking up 2 stalls and the one at end opened up & parking to the right was available, then I’d move even though it would be a little ā€˜inconvenient’. I’m sure the Tesla owners would appreciate that. Heck, I was at REI a while ago where...
  17. Dont get too happy just yet, Tesla SCs are designed for Teslas.

Rivian Charging Etiquette It will be a long time before I’m a Rivian owner because my wife insists on getting the tax credit and it looks like the only R1T configuration that will come in below the $80k limit is the dual-motor, standard pack. Unfortunately, the standard pack is not coming out...
