  1. mandating AM radio...they're serious about this

Maybe it should be an option. Then buy it if you want. I never listen to am so don't want it, and won't listen if it is there.
  2. What is your average miles per kwh?

Trip A shows 43,000 miles and 2.38/kWh efficiency. Mixture of AP and Conserve. Driving is combination of two lane highways, interstate and some city driving. 20s. At 25,000 miles switched from AT tires to a hybrid (AT/Road) tire. Gained approximately 10 percent when I changed tires.
  3. Rivian ordering & waiting process summary - An observer's consolidation of evidence

I think you get immediate shop access for any R1T order. At least I did. You don't even configure a vehicle with a reservation any more (at least I didn't). I'm looking to trade my quad with 20s for the dual motor with 21s. I got immediate access to the shop excepting any of the 2022 vehicles...
  4. Excess condensation on windshield

I just had this fixed when it was in for the last recall. The software quits allowing the vents to shut off. Evidently is an easy fix. Might be done OTA if you check.
  5. Rivian Quality - Two Genuine Questions

I have 44,000 miles on mine and have had 9 service appointments in 14 months. Some minor issues and some major. I know the early warranty claim rate within 60 days of delivery was 65 percent. I assume it has improved. OAEM normal is single digits. My VIN is early 7000s. I often think would I...
  6. Been using my R1T since Oct ‘22 as primary work truck in Landscaping business

I love my truck and use it some for farm work (limited heavy towing and hauling seed corn, etc in the bed), but I have the same post warranty fears. I now have 44,200 miles on it and just got it back after its 8th service visit in 14 months. Just because I'm lazy had them swap the wipers while...
  7. Would like your advice on getting a Quad-motor R1S soon versus a Dual-motor R1S later

I agree with that. Another poster said that; my point is everyone has a style they like and one model isn't going to appeal to everybody. You can either drive an egg or a box. 😀
  8. Experience after driving a Model X with FSD

Public acceptance of this technology will be interesting. It won't be perfect, but it also won't be long before it is better than human driving. I'm not currently a fan and prefer to control the wheel myself, but what happens when there are fewer accidents when vehicles are using this stuff than...
  9. Would like your advice on getting a Quad-motor R1S soon versus a Dual-motor R1S later

Like it or not the R1S and Model X are cross shopped all the time, and mostly by people gravitating from ICE vehicles. You are correct they are not identical vehicles, but the "family hauler" EV market is pretty thin right now so they are direct competitors. And the S has 0 appeal to many buyers...
  10. Would like your advice on getting a Quad-motor R1S soon versus a Dual-motor R1S later

I think this too. Not sure Rivian can make it at current price points and no/reduced federal tax credit. Throw that in the mix and you are pound foolish to order the S over an X. Especially with the charging network. That advantage will diminish over time, but likely at least a couple of years...
  11. Is the Model X now a better buy over R1S? (WARNING: NO ELON MUSK DISCUSSIONS)

We have friends with an X and a Tahoe. They always travel in the Model X. They have two kids. They seem to get stated highway range and since they always stop for 20 minutes anyway the charging is easy and convenient (since you have a T already you know the difference). Plus if you get the 5...
  12. What tires work for the factory 21” wheels beside the OEM?

Letting the suspension go up and down all the time (on auto setting) does more damage than anything. Take it off auto and drive in the normal ride height. The tires can only be flush with the road on one height. Driving lower than normal height causes you to drive on the inner half of the tire...
  13. Range source of truth (configurator vs imagine on rivian site)

Larry asked what the real world range is; hence my answer.
  14. Weekly Rivian Responds + Roundup: Configuration Updates, Truck Bed Camera, and More! [8/25/2023]

My tonneau was delivered broke (without them telling me first). If it gets fixed I will spend a week just opening and closing it in amazement😉. 14 months and 43,000 miles is a long time without something I paid for. Asked for a refund 11 times. They won't fix it and won't refund my money. Hmmmm...
  15. Range source of truth (configurator vs imagine on rivian site)

I've owned my R1T (20 in wheels, but replaced the AT tires with Michelin CrossClimates) for 14 months and have 43,500 miles on it. Lifetime efficiency is 2.38 mi/kw. Range is highly variable depending on drive mode, tires, temperature and speed. In 50 degree and above temp on interstate at 73...
  16. MAX Pack won't be available for order until the fall (says Rivian chat today)

Does dual motor have conserve? If it does you would get a similar increase as the current version.
  17. Frame replacement needed after accident damage (R1S)

If they total it let us what insurance co gives you. Obviously depends on your odometer miles, but curious what used Rivians are really worth. Just out of curiosity I checked autotrader the other day in Central Illinois and can buy them new off dealer lots less than a new ordered one. Rivian...
  18. Automatic Tonneau Cover Retrofit Fix Update...

I always carrie mine in the tunnel. It is perfect!
  19. Automatic Tonneau Cover Retrofit Fix Update...

I've owned 13 pickup trucks in my life. All except this one the half ton variety. Some have had covers; some not. I prefer it when they do because of the earlier mentioned security issue. I can't even drive to Normal for a golf outing and take other players because they don't want their clubs...
  20. Automatic Tonneau Cover Retrofit Fix Update...

😂😂 Not exactly. I use the truck for farm stuff all the time. Last thing I need is another SUV. I need the bed.
