Both the charger and truck have to communicate successfully for charging, at most the truck didn't know how to handle the fault it was receiving from a non-Rivian DCFC. I wouldn't say it's a software bug on Rivian's part. If this happened on RAN then it would be a different story. So, I don't really think reporting a bug is going to get anywhere. Not trying to be a dick.
My wife has issues with Tesla DCFC not working and not giving any indication of why at all on her Mach E. We aren't going to complain to Ford and tell them to fix Tesla.
Since Tesla is so open about everything the fault could be a failure to authorize payment, through a 3rd party payment system. Which would indicate to Rivian you need to update your payment information. If you updated your payment information, which it seems you did and tried the same charger again and it still didn't work. That should provide you with the answer.
