It’s only been one year .....
That's what I said... "There has been a years worth of improvements". I personally think a lot can and did change in the development cycle of the truck in 1 year.

They have a bunch of testing data, plus the data from long way up to refine the design. All of the parts should be much closer to actual production parts. They might have been able to use trucks from the pilot production line for the Rebelle Rally.

These images have the charge port on the drivers side and have the solid pane windows on the back doors. I would guess this one is one of the more recent ones to roll off of the line since we haven't seen those two changes before although we knew they were supposed to happen.

Looks like Emme Hall will do a full review based on her experience at the Rally. Sounds like it won't just be a chance to see the R1T in action, but also a chance to hear first reviews from people outside Rivian.

Emme Hall's reviews are generally thorough and straightforward, and she certainly has enough Rebelle Rally experience to know what it takes for a truck to perform well. I look forward to her thoughts on the R1T. Hopefully the one she'll be driving is the same as close to what we'll be driving. In other words, not too modified from what will be sold. An unbiased review of what the R1T can do would be hugely welcome.

Might be really really close to what we'll get.

Quoted from the Article above -

"The truck will also be the first to roll off Rivian's Normal, Illinois, assembly line, with the serial No. 1.

The R1T will not be fitted with additional features or special equipment, according to Brian Gase, chief engineer of special projects at Rivian. Even the on-board air compressor is stock equipment."

End Quote

So it sounds like it "should be" really close to the actual production truck... Of course I find it a little funny that they also called the trucks used in the Long Way Up series Serial Numbers 1 and 2. Clearly those two weren't built on the actual assembly line though.... and it is claimed that this one was.

Edited for quote clarity...

175kW charger(s) on the course and an R1T with a 135kWh battery. I'm surprised it's not the 180kWh pack. I now wonder if that isn't yet ready and worry it won't be for 2021 launch.

The 135kWh makes more sense to me. Less excess weight and they're unlikely to be exceeding the 300 mile range between charges. They mention in the Rally FAQ that there is refueling (recharging) at the daily Base Camps and that the vehicles should have 250-300 mile range. https://www.rebellerally.com/faq/ I think this should be fun to watch!

MFR Plate #132...

EDIT:
After a little Googling it looks like that is definitely an Illinois MFR plate, but there's no way to know what number the Rivians started at. If this was one of the first pre-production units off the line, it could help gauge how many others are out on the road!

Looks like the Lexus J201 will also participate in the Rebelle Rally.
