Yep, my old Ford F-250 diesel towing my old trailer got maybe 8 MPG. Rivian towing the same trailer got ~0.8 mi/kWh. One of my "usual campgrounds" is ~100 miles away from home. So charging to 100% at home, we could reach the campground on that charge. Then charge up over the weekend at the campground. Then drive home. Less than $10 in electricity.

The Ford would cost at least $100 in diesel.

If the campground that doesn't allow charging the Rivian, that's about $40 in public DC charging.

Our newer teardrop is much more efficient: ~1.2 mi/kWh.

That now makes sense. I’m finding that charging at Rivian and Tesla chargers ($.50 to $.70 kWh) with 2.5 mpkWh ( no trailer but up and down the Sierra) =$.24 per mile with $.60 being the average cost per kWh. My pathfinder could get a reliable 20 mpg ( no trailer) so 20x$.24=$4.80 gas equivalency. Just 10% less than gas.
The only way I can actually save money is charge at home with solar.
Have I got this right? Remember I’m talking California where we are screwed coming and going.
