Congrats and welcome back! Having gone through early production battery and drive unit failures with your first truck, what clicked for you during your time away that made you realize the R1T was worth coming back to despite those initial prolems?

Im dealing with a bit of a dilemma rn. I currently drive an R1S, but I've been seriously wrestling with the idea of trading it in for an R1T because I miss the truck utility.
Thank you, in the last few days I put 300 miles on the truck and Im so glad I came back to an R1T.

I knew going into my Gen 1 purchase that there was a high percentage chance of issues. My mindset was, problems are ok as long as Rivian's response to addressing issues is customer centric. Even with the issues I had, they had a very customer sat focused approach to handling the issues and taking care of me in the moment.

Rivian never made me regret my R1T purchase through the early period. My R1T was a 6000 range VIN and as I mentioned I would still have it if I didn't trade it for an R1S. I guess to specifically answer your question. Rivian's approach to customer service and being a customer centric company with a product I admire made it easy to come back.

So glad you're happy to be back in a new R1T. I agree that it is the better vehicle over the S, at least for me.

I would highly recommend getting a roof shade before we get into the heat of summer, and keep the windshield covered when parked -- that has a very noticeable effect on cabin temperature. (really wish Rivian offered standard moon roof!)

Enjoy the truck, it is remarkably handy and versatile, not to mention fun to drive, as you well know.

Thank you! I thoroughly enjoy driving it.

The truck is currently at the detailer getting Ceramic Pro coated and Xpel Ceramic window tint installed. On the previous R1T, I installed 3M Crystalline on every piece of glass and it made a huge difference in cabin temps. I did not like the tinted windshield, so skipped that this time.

I do need to order windshield shade, but not sure if I will need a sunroof shade. I'm hoping the tint and electrochromic roof are enough. I do wish Rivian made the truck with a solid metal roof (i.e. glass roof delete option).

2024 R1T Dual Motor Performance Max Pack
We have a similar story. We had a 2023 R1T Launch Edition and loved the truck. Had a Cybertruck on order, and when that became available, I made the switch. I really liked how the Cybertruck drove, but it got too much attention, good and bad, at the time. Traded it in on a F150 Raptor. Drove that for the last 6 months, but regretted not having an EV truck. Trading the Raptor in on a 2024 R1T dual max pack this weekend. VERY excited to be back in a Rivan!

Congrats on your new truck. Our stories really are similar. I was driving a 25 Raptor R prior to jumping back into the R1T. I DO miss the HP, V8 with Borla exhaust sounds and plush ride of that truck, but not the 10mpg it got.

I've had the T for ~3 weeks now and I really am enjoying it. I've put almost 1k miles on it and other than needing a few accessories (center console organizer, windshield sunshade, some strategic PPF) it exactly how I remembered it only improved substantially. The Rivian built motors are so smooth.

Thanks for sharing your stories! Makes me sad hearing these stories since I am planning on selling my Quad T in a few months. Don’t need two Rivian’s anymore and I can’t convince my wife to sell her Dual S and drive the T. I will probably be back in a T in 4 years once I stop paying for kid’s college (and an Emira).
