I just bought a new to me 2022 Launch edition R1T with just under 20k miles. The warranty is good through July of 2027.
I'd like the Xcare extended warranty, and I know that the price goes up after 20k miles. My question is should I wait until the warranty is getting close to expiring or can I purchase it to take over AFTER it expires? If I purchase it now, I lose that year of coverage since the factory warranty covers it, right? What should I do?
Thank You.

I hate these warranties that advertise a coverage period where a large part of it just overlays with the factory warranty.

Also beware of the warranty term that won’t pay out for cumulative repair work above what they deem the vehicle’s current fair market value - especially on quickly depreciating but expensive to repair vehicles.

Wait till you hit 40k, then look at options…

That would be in a couple of years and I don't want it to be out of warranty. Thanks for the info.

It seems based on miles not so much years with bumps at artificial setpoints every 10k. Just play around with their quote tool for 19, 39, 59k. See how much non-overlapping coverage you get for what cost and decide. Same with deductible, I saw a jump in premium from $500 to 100, smaller jump to 0. You can also send them an email, Cary was very helpful.

IMO wait until you are closer to needing it. No point tying up funds now, before you can actually use the extended warranty.

I’m considering this. It looks like the warranty is transferable so it could be a sweetener if selling your truck privately.

My truck just hit 51k miles and got a warranty replaced new suspension last month at 49,700 miles (standard plus battery)… no more comprehensive warranty for me it ended at 50k miles.

$5,000 and change gets me another 2 years and extends coverage to 101k miles. The way dampers, zone controllers and half shafts are prone to fail on gen 1’s it may be worth it.
