Rivian is not a legacy auto maker trying to convince their current customers to go from a gas powered vehicle to an EV. They don’t need to make a vehicle that makes you feel like you’re still driving a gas powered vehicle. They engineered vehicles that are most efficient at what they do.
If you...
Yeah, they had most of the Space roped off near the entrance and several employees with iPads. The R2 was farther back in the space and behind another set of ropes.
As for the vehicles, the Space is next to the Macy's garage, but the Rivian vehicles are in the same garage as the RAN.
We had a mobile service in April for a tire rotation. They found a fluid leak. (not our first) We opened the new ticket. Sterling fumbled it. More than a month went by as pending. Then when we called in to find out what was up we ended up in support hell. While that was going on our 12V battery...
Just finished our demo drive at the Tysons Corner, VA showroom.
First, a few technical items:
Tysons currently has (2) R2 demo drive units, (1) R2 display unit (around VIN 200)
They also have (4) R1S and (1) R1T demo unit
We had a 2p appointment, they didn't get to us until 2:45p. They said...
Try opening a ticket via chat or calling the 855 number. The person you're going to talk to is likely at their call center in Michigan and can barely handle Tier 1 support tasks. This is Rivian's system for opening a ticket nationwide. You can't just call a service center directly. (you're not...
Also, keep in mind they're probably pulling early builds with defects to serve as demo drive vehicles. When the R1 was released, the first couple thousand VINs went only to employees. We saw some of these at the factory and the panel alignments, gaps, etc were extreme in some cases.
Our email from Rivian:
”Unfortunately, due to the condensed schedule for the R2, we can only accommodate one driver at a time for these demo drives.”
Our issue has been getting appointments. We hopped on the only one we've seen available since they started taking them. So booking a second one will be tough for now. It's not a huge deal, but it's just a bit surprising this is how they're doing it.
Maybe we missed this somewhere, but we finally snagged a demo drive appt and we’ve been told only one person can drive. If you show up as a couple you can’t both drive the car. This was news to us. What has everyone else experienced?
To add to this, I’m an early adopter. We still have our R1T, which we picked up at the factory in 2022 and we’re buying an R2. I completely agree with your earlier comment that Rivian service sucks, still sucks, and in fact the people who answer the phone to open a new ticket are even worse now...
I didn’t say there were manufacturing issues. I am saying they weren’t ready to ramp yet. This was all a move to please investors. Rivian hasn’t learned much from the R1 rollout.
