I would like to see actual examples of instances where anyone at Rivian said R2 would get them to positive territory before 2028. As I recall, they only said it is the model line that would get them there. They never said when.

Why? There is no harm in doing hard resets. The ability to do it is there for a reason. And if you contacted support they would have you try it first.
