If your pressing the brake, your not using much regen. My brakes are 20 months old and look like new. And I live in the Rocky Mountains. My regen setting is set to the middle setting.
That 130 ft distance requires 5 gauge, so you'll need 4 gauge copper. You can run 4 gauge wire to a small 2 or 4 space sub-panel. Then 6 gauge to the charger. That will pass anyone's code and give you max voltage.
this is what I ended up doing.
My bladder can't last 400 miles, so why pay for
Something you can't use. The charging curve is what needs improving. Like stay at 225 kWh's until 80% vs 40ish %.
An EV pickup truck is not for you. If security concerns you, don't be connected to the internet. My 2023 R1T with Max Pack gets 250-275 miles max on the highway. You'll never charge above 80% except on long trips. It degrades the battery. The Silverado just has a massive battery that...
2/2 Update - Tow truck and tried to jump start the truck. Computer booted, but he the brake & drive would not engage. He said sometimes it works and some times it doesn't. We'll see what Rivian says and how long it takes to replace the 12v Battery.
It sat in the parking lot for over two weeks. The Denver SC was all backed up. Today, there's a second SC about 15 miles south of Denver. So I'm hoping it's not a long wait. I can say, Rivian did get me a SUV from enterprise for the 3 weeks. If you book an appointment today, there's a two...
I have about 16,000 miles, I change at home when it's under 30% and charge to 75%. Only charge above 80% if I go on a trip, which is very seldom. Back in 2020 when I bought a Tesla Model Y, the 12v gel cell battery had a problem. There fix was going with 12v Lithium batteries. My...
While sitting at the car wash, I got an alert my 12v lead acid battery needs attention. It said, I could not go over 60 mph's, there was a turtle picture and AWD was enabled. At least I was able to drive home. I bought this truck new June 1st, 2024 with a 3 year lease. In November 2024, it...
I was told by Rivian, the Gen 1's 12v batteries cycle several times a day and there good for a 2 to 5 years. My '23 R1T lasted about 6 months. I bought it in May 2024 and it was built in November 2023. So it didn't surprise me it died.
Whenever I know the truck will sit for days, like on...
At the top of I-70 at Eisenhower (11,170ft) Tunnel in Colorado, I had 13% thinking I would gain 9-10% like my Tesla MY. After a drop to 6,120 ft to Golden, CO, I actually lost another 4% and ended up at 9% for on that 5,000ft elevation drop over 45 miles. For some reason, my R1T gave no...
I'm in Xcel Energy of Colorado and charge 100% at home when rates are $.07 or $.08 per kWh 9pm to 5pm next day starting Nov 1st. Lower rates we 7pm to 1pm next day, but there charging TOU.
I use Tezlab for data analysis because it gives far more detail.
I had the same problem with my 23 R1T Max. Took it to Discount Tire's only to have the same problem. Took it back and they found one tire was off by 1.5 oz. They said the tech must not have put the tire on the spinner properly. R1T has been fine since.
Hard reset did not fix the issue. Since it's non critical, I'll wait for the next software update for Gen1 R1T since I'm assuming it started after the last update for 23 R1T. Only 2nd issue I've seen. Although the first issue was a big one with 12v battery dying in my garage.
