Yes. There are lots of situations where you want proximity lock at home but not at some other specific places. Not just a second home but your parents' home, your favorite coffee shop, etc.
I use HA and have an R1S and a Rivian charger. I had endless problems with my phone app not working - it would constantly report "No cloud connection" or something like that. DIsabling the HA integration fixed it.
So I'm redoing it with a separate account to avoid those problems.

The reason for wifi and other niceties in the EVSE is because you can do things that can't be done with a dumb charger. For example if your electric utility offers time of use discounts or special rates for EV charging they'll need you to have a smarter EVSE.

There is no benefit to the Rivian EVSE. In fact if anything it’s worse since I can’t take advantage of my utility’s discount program.
