Charging at a lower rate will generally result in more losses due to the vehicle systems running longer and the power conversion system being less efficient at partial loads.
I usually just press the dog paw under the HVAC menu next to the steering wheel heat control, but something that could be added to the quick controls could be nice to save an additional step.
I think the main difference is the 20" All-Season in the 2025 list, otherwise the other options are the same between the years.
The 2025 All-Seasons are 275/60/20, so about an inch less in diameter (33" tall versus 34" for the 275/65/20 All-Terrain options).
I spoke with service about it a while back and they also confirmed the push-to-unlock feature only works on the drivers door. I was expecting both doors to have the same functionality, which prompted my question to the service team initially.
I had this happen once on a road trip in 2024, third stop in at a RAN charger, it wouldn't initialize with any of the stations. Called Rivian support, they restarted the stations to no avail, a full reboot of the vehicle fixed it and it has worked fine ever since.
When the switch to NACS happens, this will be a non-issue due to the self aligning nature of the design, but yeah, J1772 can be tricky in low light with the current Gen2 design.
It seems to do the same as pressing the button on most EVSE handles, stops the charging and unlocks. Guess it would...
I wonder what the operating lifetime of the suspension air compressor is? If it is anything similar to the heat pump, which operates nearly continuously when the vehicle is on, then a few extra minutes a day shouldn't have any real impact on it's total lifespan.
Same upper tray with my Gen2 with the All-Terrain package, which I also have loaded with gear.
Interesting that some are delivered without it. Maybe a difference in the All-Terrain package versus optional add-on?
It locks the rails so the drawer module can't be removed, the drawer can still be opened though. If it is unlocked, the entire drawer and rails come out, allowing the camp speaker or other accessory to be installed in it's place.
I see similar behavior when it tries to kneel on any type of incline. Earlier updates it wouldn't even attempt to kneel in my driveway, now it tries but ends up uneven and just seems to drop one side a little. This has the fun side effect of it shifting around for a while during the first...
I wish the EPA ratings were communicated more clearly. The EPA range is a combined rating of city+highway test cycles. EV's are very efficient at converting energy into motion, so at low speeds where aerodynamic drag is minimal, most of the energy goes it to motion. At high speeds...
You hit the nail on the head. For normal driving, the rate of distance added is the only metric that matters. If you have two vehicles that can replenish 150 miles of range in 15 minutes, one only charges at 30kW the other at 300kW, they both get you there in the same time, one is just...
Appreciate the videos.
That has been my experience as well, some wheel slip on the unloaded wheel but then the brakes progressively grab more until the vehicle starts moving or the opposite wheel also slips. I wonder if there isn't enough torque available or more than the system can transfer...
