  1. Standard Cruise Control - help me convince Rivian it should be an option!

I am not sure what is meant by personal preference. If you spin the small wheel on the R1T or adjust the distance on other cars with adaptive cruise you can set your preference, long ways or short distance before vehicle slows down. If I set my ICE to closest setting I can assure you it slows...
  2. Standard Cruise Control - help me convince Rivian it should be an option!

totally agree with adding standard cruise control. No reason it can't be there since that is basically what you have when towing. Also, need to shorten the interval where the adaptive cruise starts radically slowing down, even at closest setting it is still way to soon since vehicle ahead is...
  3. Rivian Care expands to 48 States, including California in October

I have a '22 R1T with 53K miles. Truck has been great and thinking of keeping it another 3 years or so. Got a quote for Rivian care and for 3 years looks like just under 3K. Seems like a good investment rather than gamble on having no issues. Welcome others thoughts. I have typically stayed...
  4. Moving R1T a tiny amount to hook up trailer

Be a great addition to the software in a future update...trailer hitch alignment mode, also perfect way to get autonomous driving and AI involved. Press the button and let Rivian do the work! Hello any Rivian software engineers out there.....
  5. Four years, four R1Ts. An adventure and a bitter-sweet cautionary tale.

Perhaps a bit of luck of the draw, but I have an early VIN 2022 R1T that has only had the damper issue (all replaced free by Rivian with what they called upgraded version). Powered tonneau still working perfectly, had camp speaker replaced for bad battery early on but replacement is great. No...
  6. Rivian dropped my truck!

Totally sucks. Why not make them take it as a trade in and ask what their best deal would be for a new one? Agree that I wouldn't take the old one back. They should try to work with you, but probably just giving you a new one isn't really going to happen since yours wasn't really new.
  7. Apple watch and Gen 1

any workaround if you don't have the ultra with the action tab?
  8. Apple watch and Gen 1

    crap, I have a 4. Guess time for a new i watch
  9. Apple watch and Gen 1

It doesn’t show up on my watch as an available app. Service guy said it needs to be generated by the truck first or something to that effect. Could be the watch, not sure what it is but has OS 10.6.2 not 11
  10. Electrek - Tesla and SpaceX announce $25B ‘Terafab’ chip factory — here’s why it reeks of desperation

PS, good chance you wouldn't be driving a US made electric car sans Elon, so clearly there is a connection with Rivian
  11. Apple watch and Gen 1

I haven't been able to get the Rivian app onto my apple watch after the upgrade. Talked to the service people when I had the R1T if for the recall repair and they said it can be a bit wonky with Gen 1. Has anyone found a way to get the app onto their I-watch with Gen 1 Rivian? Any suggestions...
  12. Electrek - Tesla and SpaceX announce $25B ‘Terafab’ chip factory — here’s why it reeks of desperation

Always gotta think twice before betting on the one man that has accomplished more than any dozen others I can think of including Steve Jobs in such a short time-span. I'm just glad he is an American and not Iranian, Russian, Chinese or North Korean! Of course his plans are ambitious, what...
  13. Is preconditioning before DCFC really worth it?

Drove to MI ski resort yesterday, outside temp 19, 125 mile drive. Selected an EA supercharger about 30 min before getting there, watched motor temps, running around 100 jump up to Orange in 200 degree range, seeme it would alternate front, back and left right a bit to not get too hot while...
  14. The OEM Jack: Good Enough or Risky?

I'm always uneasy whether it is the plastic OEM jack or a 8000 lb bottle jack that I also use. When truck is lifted it is angled a bit and always seems that success vs disaster is separated by a fine line, although perhaps perception is scarier than reality.
