Everything will work as normal. When the Comma 3X is plugged in it acts as a "man in the middle" When unplugged the Rivian ADAS will operate as normal.
There are several factors that can affect your charging speeds.
Battery temp
ambient temp (usually related to charger and cable temp)
available power at the site/stall
faulty charging stall
Since you were the only one there we can probably rule out #3. If you did not pre-condition the battery...
Typically, what worked for me in the past, is to tap on the offending vent to turn it off and then tap it again to turn it on. Most of the time it makes it so the vent will move again. Only a handful of times has it not been successful, but later it worked.

Yes hardware does go End of Life. I however do not order hardware expecting "x feature" and just ignore when a vendor cannot deliver.
