I do the drive from Oakland to Truckee often. In the summer, I can make it with 20-25% remaining. It's very tight in the winter. Based on everything I've seen from the R2, you should be able to make it in the summer no problem, but cold weather may push you over the edge.

The reference to 96 MPGe (or any EPA MPGe value in my opinion) is not helpful as a comparative datapoint here. It's measuring something else. EPA MPGe as a measurement includes charging loses (see italicized emphasis in the definition here...

Sounds pointless based on that range estimation difference, which is why I presume they chose to not support this mode on the DM R1? But maybe they are including it on the R2 because RWD is nicer to drive than FWD?
I was taking a look at the R2 owner's guide and noticed it included conserve mode. Conserve mode notably isn't included on the dual-motor R1 as all purpose automatically it switches to single-motor FWD when efficient.
The R2 documentation curiously also states that "Conserve mode automatically...
