There are actually something like 150 automakers in China...kinda nuts if ask me 😮 But that's also what forces them to be competitive and why Xiaomi being profitible after two years is quite a feat while the others are living on borrowed time burning their IPO money... I haven't heard stories...

FWIW, that's out of security updates... Should be replacing phones when they stop getting security updates. They used to do it only for 3 years but most are up to 7 now so it's worth an upgrade. And you'll like the battery life of the new ones a lot better 🙂
