I appreciate the time you have taken to point out the details from the QM and DM variants and I actually did learn quite a bit from this. No apology was needed but thank you (and very refreshing have civil discourse on a forum site). I merely just wanted to explain why the range increase was...
I was operating under the assumption that the R1S max pack was to be 180kWh battery gross, which is what I last saw published this spring. I haven't seen any information that this was revised to 165 kWh. (?) I stand corrected if this is the case.
I also thought it was just a matter of time...
A roughly 30% increase in battery should equate to a 30% increase in range. The 20" AT DM model is EPA rated at 305 miles, so this potentially could mean a range of over 400 miles, and is significantly more than a 50 mile increase stated - closer to 100 really.
In any case, the range is very...
I still plan on keeping the max pack, simply for the reason of towing. 390 miles quickly turns into 190 miles when you have a boat or other heavy trailer in back, and would only require only one stop on the way to the cabin in northern Wisconsin.
While I am not a fan of Tesla or EM, I think the move to a singular plug and technology is best for everyone in the long term. In this case, the NACS plug and infrastructure is superior to CCS1 in almost every metric, and I am happy that the industry appears to be coalescing around NACS.
If...
Yes, I had to re-add the tent a few weeks ago after I noticed it had mysteriously disappeared from my configuration. I wasn't too concerned with the changes affecting lead times, as I am holding out for (hopefully) the upcoming max pack or equivalent and expected it to be pushed out to 2024 anyway.
