If Rivian doesn't make it in the long run, I wonder what the postmortem will look like in business school. Will it be that they pushed the tech too far while losing sight of the fundamentals like dependability, quality and service? For me, this car and this company just feels like too much...
I'm confused. RJ, the world's smartest, most humble and nicest man, has repeatedly said that all the noise about Rivian not supporting CarPlay is overblown and that we don't need it. And as a Rivian fan boy (and owner) I believe everything he says, why on earth would anyone go to all this...
No one is saying Rivian is forcing them to text. What they're saying is they're accustomed to doing it in other vehicles and they're frustrated they can't do it in a Rivian.
They also use Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps and a host of other apps that they also miss. This is SUCH a devise...
When it's all said and done, Rivian denies its customers choice with their decision to not support CarPlay. The arguments of why we should or shouldn't need CarPlay will NEVER end because Rivian will never be able to provide an equal amount of CONTENT. No way, no how. And much of the content...
I love that this won’t die. If Rivian had the CONTENT of CarPlay, this would have died long ago. But they don’t and they never will. RJ’s stubborn insistence on recreating the wheel is just astounding to me. His arrogance is even more astounding.
I don’t care who the recipient is, I don’t see this being a function of government to prop up a private entity, especially a government that is so hopelessly over extended already.
