  1. R2 Favorite Features - What's Yours?

Then you'll love this one...I've got one of the earliest 1st Gen Sequoias built (MY2001 manufactured in 2000), and that drop glass is working fine too.
  2. R2 Favorite Features - What's Yours?

Given the only reason I'm planning to go with the Premium trim over the Standard is the drop glass, that's obviously my favorite feature. My dream spec...a Standard AWD in Borealis with the drop glass and tow package for ~$54k. I think they've over-priced the Standard AWD trim by $1-2k when...
  3. R2 Across America: 2,000 miles through six states

The most interesting part to me is this photo -- assuming this is Esker Silver. There are so few "real world" photos of Esker Silver...as far as I know, they haven't had an Esker Silver at any of the block parties...
  4. Rocklin, CA New service center?!?

According to this YouTube video, the Rocklin center is now in its soft opening phase (the RAN on-site is now shown in the Rivian app too). Apparently the official grand opening/ribbon cutting will be on June 13.
  5. EPA Range Finalized / Published (R2 Performance)

I was just on the fueleconomy.gov website and noticed that the EPA ratings were officially published for the Performance trim of the R2 including the MPGe city vs. highway ratings. I included the Model Y Performance rating for context. It would seem like Rivian's motors are more efficient than...
  6. R2 Configurator is Live! 🎉 What's your configuration?

Good news -- at least per the configuration site, the standard interior does come with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel: Click on the "Learn more" under the Black Crater interior color, scroll all the way to the bottom, and you'll see it. I'd prefer the standard version too...
  7. R2 vs midsize SUV- need by June

When I was a teenager, I commuted to work in an '06 Grand Cherokee, which by all objective measures (JD Power, Consumer Reports, anyone with a pulse) was a 💩box of reliability (got to love the DaimlerChrysler days...although, it isn't like FCA or Stellantis have proven to be any better). The...
  8. R2 vs midsize SUV- need by June

JD Power's dependability rankings takes into account way more than what most people would consider "reliability". It's any "problem" a consumer has with any number of elements of the vehicle (including poor ergonomics, infotainment glitches -- not failures, etc.). Even having to replace a key...
  9. R2 vs midsize SUV- need by June

Quality or reliability? Quality...agreed, but I don't think teenagers really care about panel gaps, minor squeaks/rattles, etc. (and they shouldn't if they're getting a "free" car anyway). From a reliability standpoint, I actually haven't known someone in real life who has had any significant...
  10. R2 vs midsize SUV- need by June

TCO is going to be difficult to compare without knowing driving habits (e.g. 5k miles/yr; 20k miles/yr), and probably to a greater extent, insurance rates. I don't know if you can get a quote for insuring a teenage driver with an R2, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were significantly more...
  11. Palo Alto & Miami R2 Block Parties -- RSVP Signup Page / Dates (May 15-17)

Do you know if they actually open things up at 9 or 10am? Their invites have been a bit all over the place, so I'm curious what the actual start time is (I'm planning to go tomorrow).
  12. R2 Configurator is Live! 🎉 What's your configuration?

Another interesting decision to make...the standard Black Crater interior comes with a light headliner vs. the premium which comes with the dark headliner. I'd personally prefer the light headliner, but probably not enough to forgo the drop glass and some of the other interior upgrades.
  13. R2 Configurator is Live! 🎉 What's your configuration?

I remember when the Maverick first came out Ford ended up giving a free AWD upgrade to people who ordered the 4K Tow Package with FWD because they ultimately couldn't get the tow capacity up to 4k lbs with FWD; however, a FWD tow package is still offered (just at 2k lbs instead).
  14. R2 Configurator is Live! 🎉 What's your configuration?

Interesting that you can't get the tow package on the RWD standard (you have to go to AWD to get the tow package). I would love to know if the tow package can be installed later on if you don't configure it initially (more from a used market/resale consideration).
  15. Palo Alto & Miami R2 Block Parties -- RSVP Signup Page / Dates (May 15-17)

Also, for Palo Alto, you've got to love the three different start times depending on which webpage you're on. Rivian Events site = 11am. RSVP site showing all three days = 9am. Actual RSVP site = 10am.
