I've encountered the same unit on VW/Porsche/Audi, Mercedes, BMW, and Ford products. Fortunately have only had to use it twice, the goop once. I can confirm it's pretty much imposible to get the power cord back into its home in any situation you need the pump on a non-leisure basis.

Various chrysler products, for instance, have had the battery in the wheel well. So, wheel off, wheel well liner out to get at it. This is definitely easy access.

reliability and cost. A VLRA/AGM battery is cheaper and can handle a much wider range of conditions without having to be coddled.

So the jack point on the car is not even wide enough for a typical floor jack saddle?

THe pad is almost certainly big enough for a floor jack saddle - has to be since two post lift pads are similar size. Looks like the depression in the middle is meant for the scissor jack that comes with the spare tire kit.

Have none of you ever seen a mercedes or BMW jack point?

torx plus in particular is much more assembly friendly than hex head or even normal torx. also torx/torx plus is much more suited to a flat or button head fastener than internal hex because it's way harder to strip out the head

It's important to consult the AHJ's SME for the correct TLA or there will be a SNAFU PDQ
