If it hasn't spread too far yet just get it patched. I finally got one and just paid someone to patch it (although you can get kits yourself.) Much cheaper than doing whole new glass.
Always worth repairing if you can, it's not that expensive at a glass shop (if you go cash no insurance) or you can get a kit to do it.
When the replacement is ~$1800 it's worth a shot. I had a spider crack on mine I got fixed and it's still good to date.
I realize this is kind of an old thread but has anyone sent feedback to Rivian on this? It feels like a ridiculous feature, it needlessly disrupts the ride and if I have to use the accelerator to maintain speed it makes cruise control pointless.
I know how fast I want the car to go, that's why...
I have to imagine that's why they aren't too popular. All the benefits of EV start going out the window if you have to rely on expensive fast charging AND wait to get it to 100% while you're trying to rush back to the airport assuming the chargers aren't broken or full.
Meanwhile you have 100%...
I think if we're really going to compare total costs like that we'd have to see how reliable these really are out of warranty. I've had a couple minor issues with the R1, but knock on wood mine has generally been good so far.
My Subaru required 0 out of warranty services for the 7 years I owned...
I'm a fan of the 'gentler' front end, it's a unique look in a sea of ANGRY trucks that look like they can't wait to run you over. The low hood kinda helps with that too, not coming all the way up to your chest or something ridiculous.
The fact that it's faster than all those other trucks too is...
Engine oil when I had to do it was $50 a year. If they're only charging $50 for the year I'm probably fine with it but somehow I suspect they're aiming at something around $20 a month.
That's a hard sell when my phone (with unlimited data and 5G that can do a ton more things) only costs me $30...
While I'd hate to see them take this information away - it feels like peoples concern is justified. If you look at a status indicator that turns red/orange it usually means something BAD, so if it's not bad it shouldn't change color to look like it.
The whole screen reminded me of the world of...
Love the new info displays but why is the battery temperature blanked out when charging? It seems like that would be one of the most important times to know what it actually is
That tire size difference is 3.3% circumference, which would actually add 1650 miles onto your 50,000. Still not a whole ton, but noticeable, as it's extra "miles" for no reason and it would mess up your range estimates a bit.
Kyle did an experiment with a model S and they found a 14% loss in a pretty bad scenario (heat soaked black car with max AC).
I'd think the Rivian would do a little better because the 'base' efficiency of the car is not as high as the Tesla S, but part of that depends where you're driving...
It strikes me as absolutely stupid they make that ridge the most prominent part of the door instead of extending the black cladding to catch a door before it hits there. Every other truck maker figured this out with where they put their sideboards.
Has anyone worked out when they 'switched' to the single battery setup on the R1T? I'd assume past a certain point all vins would have the new setup, but I'd rather not tear mine open to look if someone already knows.
