HIghly suggest you get a different trailer. The UHaul "Car Haulers" are pretty awful if you're not towing behind one of their moving vans. The UHaul "Toy Hauler" is a MUCH nicer trailer and easier to deal with.
UHaul Toy Hauler
If you have a local trailer rental place that will be even better...
The clunk/rattle is the most constant reminder to me that I am ready to dump the R1 and move along. The HVAC vents and poor access system I can work around/live with, but the constant clunk/rattle from the suspension is unacceptable. I've had adjustable air suspension on the last 3 vehicles I've...
WOW, the scenery out there is just so different and neat and cool. Lived on the east or the west coast desert my whole life. Family never really explored much. So wild that this is the same country when compared to somewhere like KY.
Thanks for sharing.
I moved from the Pirellis to the OEM Godyear AT's as well. Have about 20k on the Goodyears and they're about 60% worn, so doing about as expected. They're starting to get louder though. I think I'm going to go to a Terrain Contact AT from Continental on the next set. I don't do enough...
@riviandac glad it worked for you.
I've had these features in other vehicles (seats, mirrors, etc) and never fought them like this. Either those manufacturers had encoders for positional feedback, or they had stronger motors that didn't lose position due to mechanical reasons.
I have to do...
Rivian apparantly thinks that encoders on stepper motors are a luxury too expensive to use. So things that "adjust themselves" tend to lose position coordination between software and hardware and do this crap. Such a terrible decision, but not out of character for a company that is so software...
I agree, and my wife agrees. The data is irrefutable on that front. HOWEVER, the context of importance of time is not captured in that sentiment.
She HATES road tripping in an EV. She just drove from Destin to Buffalo in her Rogue. Made 3 stops and one was an overnight. I plotted the route and...
Yea, us up here where it snows don't get much choice. I already have rust showing on my truck despite being only 22mo since delivery. Salt/Sand/Moisture is a recipe for destroying a vehicle.
From a business standpoint, I think it's the right move for them. The UI is VERY good, especially considering it's relative age. The zonal architecture, and AI based software direction are great as business model enhancements as well. They are actively diversifying by selling more than just a...
What's this about 18in of dirt taking out an R1? There has to be more to it than that. I've drug mine over a boulder before on the undercarriage and it didn't seem to care much. There's that other one that was washed away in the NC flood that was recovered and drove away. There's also the ones...
Same here. Actively looking for ways out.
Part of it is the poor quality of components and poor workmanship that put them together, part of it is a constant fight to "make it work" instead of it just "falling into step" with me. Ultimately I think more like a German engineer than I do a Silicon...
Found mine to be in the same boat. Actively looking for options to replace/sell/trade/etc.
What are the other 6 cars in the Counts fleet? Going to replace the Rivian and move back to 7, or stay as is?
This is what I do. Hold the brake, apply throttle, release brake to modulate position.
Practice away from the trailer until you get a feel for it. Quite fine control using this method.
