Anyone else have the sloshing sound/noise coming from the rear area when you first start driving your Rivian? Has Rivian fixed it or discovered what it is?

@Cafireman : I had the problem when I drove it first. I've 20" wheels on my R1S. I complained and said it needed to be fixed since it's a new car. They sent the service agent to visit my house and we did a test drive together and the agent said it's normal based on the road conditions.
P.S.: I never did a test drive so not sure if the agent was telling the truth or covering up. :-(.

I also hear some kind of wind whistling sound coming from the rear, especially when I drive past 30 mph. I haven’t contacted Rivian yet and based on other responses on this thread, I doubt they’ll do anything about it.

Anyone have recommendations on a place for full ppf + ceramic + tint in the east bay?
I have quotes from OCDetailing and AV Wraps at fairly drastically differing price points.

I've had good experience from OCDetailing in the past but im not sure if in this scenario its $3k higher good experience.

Hello! Does anyone have a recommendation for a shop that can repair a small windshield rock chip (< 1cm) in San Francisco or within a reasonable distance?

I've always used Safelite - it's covered by my insurance policy and they'll come to my house and take care of it.

Call your insurance and see if they offer coverage. It doesn’t impact your rates or record.
Does anyone already have a NACS to CCS adapter? I'd like to test and maybe borrow it for a road trip.

I took my R1T to Vex Offroad in Fremont to help me with a difficult rock slider removal a couple weeks ago.

They were professional, capable, and super accommodating.

Wouldn't hesitate to go with them again for work.
Hello Rivian Club,

My Name is Brandon Ghanma! I recently attended the latest Rivian Clubs event at Equator Coffee. While I was there I captured photos for Bay Area Rivian Club visiting Point Bonita and also for the event at Equator coffees and created a gallery to share with everyone. It was a very inclusive event, with owners and tourists all gathering to check out some beautiful cars and meet awesome people. I was able to meet so many great Rivian owners from San Jose and even made some new friends in the San Francisco area. 0===0

The direct link to the gallery is above! There are 66 Total Photos spanning our time from arriving at Point Bonita Lighthouse, to the end of the event at Equator Coffee, and you may be in some of them so definitely check them out! Each of the photos will have an icon at the top for you to easily download them on any device. When you do so, It will ask for you for a four digit download PIN. The code is: 7128

I also attendend the last Bay Area Rivian Club event at Lick observatory on January 27th! Click here to view the gallery for the past event if you missed it or would like to see more! Contact me through email or direct message if you would like to download any previous photos and I will give you the code.

Great photos! So sorry we missed it! We were at a high school mountain bike race for our son. Are you also on Rivian Stories? I'm sure there are some folks who attended this event that follow that forum and may not be on this one.

For folks who are interested in the Camp Kitchen shown in these photos - it can purchased here: https://www.thunderboltadventuresupply.com/
Anyone else having a problem formating and/or the final speed test to setup the USB-C flash drive to setup your security video feature? I've tried 3 different drives even had to find a special 128gb USB-C connector flash drive, but that didn't for either! What's the secret or is this another Rivian defect?

I had no issues with mine. I bought a SanDisk 1TB Extreme Go SSD from Costco and plugged it in and it worked the first time.

I had that issue. Now I have three USB-C drives. This one worked flawlessly: Kingston DataTraveler Max 1TB USB-C Flash Drive with USB 3.2 Gen 2 Performance
My wife got into a fender bender in my R1T, and it needs some body work. Would you recommend that I go with the Rivian Service Center or a Certified Collision Center body shop for repair?

I'll let you know soon, we got rear ended and the only shop that was both certified by rivian and also part of our insurance company's network is Chilton in San Carlos. Took a while to get parts, but we'll be dropping it off to our repairs tomorrow. I will say that there were at least a dozen other Rivians there when we went for the inspection/estimate so it's probably a good sign?
RollingMaul
Follow up to this, finally got the back this week after a month and a half (granted, three holidays probably delayed some things)

Repair cost tripled after all was said and done (insurance took care of it), because the damage found after taking the vehicle apart required more replacement parts than originally thought. We had already waited a few weeks for the original part order before taking the vehicle in since it was drivable, just unable to use the tailgate. Seems like getting parts is just tough in general.

Shop was ok, not super communicative, but I don't know if that's due to them dealing directly with my insurance company or that's just how they are. When I did talk to them, they were really friendly and detailed.

Did see the vehicle battery drop really low and called them to ask them to plug it in so it stopped sending alerts, took a few days to get it plugged in, but seeing their facility, maybe that's just due to how crowded it is there.

Anyone have a good tinting rec for the East Bay?

I’ve had my R1T with the max battery for one week now. I live in Point Reyes Station and ski at Kirkwood. When I input Kirkwood into the map it indicated I can get there with 119 miles to spare but I’m worried it will make it that far without charging. Anyone else have expeeriecne driving to the Sierras in the winter?

Thanks

My advice, try it. Don’t stress. If you get closer and it’s draining more quickly stop at one of the many chargers along the way. Do you have a plan for charging while at kirkwood? If not make sure you have enough to get back to your chosen charging station on the return trip.
FGarcia
Thanks, I plan to install a wall charger up there.
mwexler2
That gives you a lot of flexibility. But for peace of mind, stop by the RAN in Sacramento and charge up to 70%. Shouldn’t take long. You can stretch your legs and use the restroom. And get to Kirkwood with plenty of spare electrons. And as you get use to your Rivian and the route you can fine tune.
Hi has anyone in the group done a Twraps on their R1T themselves and would be willing to DM me in their application and any issues.
Thank you in advance

HI can I ask why you are selling yours'? did you find a better option?

Kinda? I'm getting the Tesla Universal Wall charger instead -- even tho today I don't have a Tesla nor do I have plans to yet to buy a car that supports NACS. By doing this, I feel like it future proofs things since if I get a 2nd EV car in the future that only supports the NACS (Tesla standard), I don't need to run out and buy a J1772->NACS adapter for the Rivian charger to use it.

Likewise if I ever sell my home and the new home buyers have a Tesla, they don't have to deal with using their NACS->J1772 adapter which might make them want to buy my home vs another home.

I am selling mine as I already have a fast charger installed at my place... my Rivian wall charger is still unopened in the box. DM me if still interested.

Thanks to the Bay Area Rivian Club member who gave my kid some stickers at the Lincoln City Oregon RAN a few days ago! (Let the kid borrow it for the first time to go camping, they stopped at that RAN to top off on their way. Surprisingly no new dents - that I’ve found yet.)

Charging Dilemma? Currently using a 60a Breaker 240v on a Nema 1450 Receptacle and getting about 15 mi/hour charge rate. I was looking at a Juicebox 40 and their specs show a 20mi/hour charge rate. I called Rivian and they claim their OEM Charge Box charges at 25mi/hour rate. I found a Juicebox 40 for about $300 online, but they want a min of $500 for the OEM Rivian, what's the consensus on chargers?

The Juicebox 40 can deliver a maximum of 40 amps whereas the OEM Rivian can deliver a maximum of 48 amps. What that translates into is that the Juicebox 40 can deliver at a 20mi/hour rate.

Here's a screen grab from a YouTube video that I found that shows the throughput of various level 1 & 2 charging options and speeds.

Congratulations are in order I flew down to LA Monday and drove my 2022 R1T Launch Edition home to Northern CA! Love the Truck <3 Hate Electrify America for their defective charging network and fraudulent charging rates and defective payment system! I emailed and called Electrify America and EMailed the Corporate Offices with no response!
