Hello Kitsap Rivianners! I am a new R1T owner who is in the consideration phase of moving out to your areas and have a question: any of you guys using the ferries to get your Rivians to and from the islands? Asking because of the particularly hefty weight as a vehicle... TIA!

Thanks for the feedback @PappaBolt, good to know we will be able to keep the Rivian if we make the move!

I do want to note that ferries on Rivians actually do have a major problem in that the GPS can't handle it and requires a full reset to figure out where you are once you get to the other side. As someone who drives my rivian on ferries up to 20x a week, I can assure you that this is not just a minor annoyance, and its something I have never seen any other high end car have a problem with. So, when anyone asks me how the vehicle is now and if I am happy with it, this is the first thing I say... do not buy a Rivian if you regularly use ferries until they fix this bug. I'm on all the WSDOT major routes, including BI-Sea and Kingston-Edmonds and it sucks each and every time I have to stop using the built in mapping software until I reset it.

So, I want to anti-recommend buying a Rivian in Kitsap for now if you are a regular ferry user.

Its a shame, too, because the software fix would be trivial. Check GPS coordinates every 5 minutes, If dead-reckoning is more than 500' off, reset to GPS location. Honestly this would just be good practice anyway.. it makes it clear that they trust their dead reckoning over GPS for normal operations and never verify until the system resets, which is silly.

I’m on WSF ferries every week and don’t have a problem with GPS reconnecting once off the boat.
I apologize if this is not the appropriate place to post, but I installed the running board and wanted to share some of its features here.

Features

Perfectly Fit:
Enhance your Rivian R1T/R1S fully customized running boards. Designed to perfectly fit the Rivian R1T/R1S 2022 and 2023 2024 2025 models, the width of the pedal is 17.5 cm, making it easy for people to step on and off the vehicle.

Durable and Safe: Made from high-carbon steel with an anti-slip design providing additional safety, delivering superior strength and wear resistance compared to conventional running boards. It has minimal impact on ground clearance and reduces the risk of damage when driving over rough terrain.

High-strength bearing capacity: Hansshow Rivian running boards are engineered to provide hassle-free access to your vehicle while maintaining superior strength and stability. With a maximum weight capacity of 400 kg, these steps are designed to securely support you and your passengers.

Easy DIY installation: Installation is straightforward, bolt-on design, and DIY friendly. No extra parts or specialty tools are required. No permanent modifications to the truck frame structure are required

You can use my discount coupon to purchase a standard or power running board here if you are interested. This coupon code offers 25% off. This is a Black Friday deal; it will end on December 1st, after which you will only receive your regular discount. RIVIAN is the discount code. https://www.hautopart.com/collections/rivian-r1t-r1s

Any recommendations for an in-the-bed rack system to carry kayaks?

Hi. I’m new and am about to order a 25 R1T. I was hoping for lfp chemistry in a bigger battery. Oh well.

Question: do you find the glass roof allows cab to get too hot in summer? If so, any fix?

I've actually found the opposite. I installed a 3P roof shade to help with how toasty the truck gets in the summer sun. Maybe it depends on your location/parking orientation.

True, I’m mostly commuting from garage to garage. An extended outdoor summer excursion could make it a bit toasty.

yes, my R1S is outside all the time and gets very toasty in the summer. I have a sunshade from BestEvMod during the sunny summer months. I had an XL RV one last year all summer. makes a big difference.
Hi Everyone,
I'm a R1T reservation holder that's close to pulling the trigger. Is anyone in the North Kitsap or Bainbridge area willing to let me have a peak at or ride along in their real-life truck?

Hi. New R1T owner - adventure model in blue if you see me around! I'm in Silverdale. I bought a Wildland Air Cruiser rooftop tent which was recommended on another forum and am just getting it set up and ready to camp. Anyone here campers? Would love to get recommendations on where to go a little off the beaten track. Also, anyone else have this RTT?

Hi All,
New R1T owner here in Victor/Allyn area of Puget Sound. You folks are the nearest club I think, and easier than the Seattle group which is a bit far to commute. Im a long time E/V driver having owned a 2016 Tesla model X and currently driving a 2023 Tesla X in addition to my R1T. Love the truck and looking forward to having lots of adventures with this new toy! Have been holding a Tesla CyberTruck reservation since 2019 but have become a disgruntled customer and got tired of waiting. Dont get me wrong, I love the Tesla product, but boy their customer service is the worst......Im happy to be dealing with another company in the future and hope Rivian lives up to its reputation.

So far not much activity yet from owners on the Olympic side of the puget sound. There seems to be lots of interest with the emerald city rivian club for Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond though.

Hello, Kitsapians!
I'm actually in Pierce Co, so courtesy question: would you prefer to expand boundaries? Or should I start a Pierce club?

There were quite a few Rivians at the Madison Diner on Bainbridge Island this past Friday. Is there a subgroup on island enthusiasts I don’t know about?
