Howdy Y'all.

Just took delivery of a 2024 R1S Dual Motor adventure. Traded in a Tesla 2018 Model S 100D (worst resale value of any car I have ever owned, paid $120k, sold for $25k).

Super excited to get my crossbars and the Yakima tent, 4 year old is eager to camp on top of the car.

So far, this is about the best car I've ever owned. Looking forward to connecting with other enthusiasts in or around the Austin area.

Glad to hear you got already got the crossbars, tent etc... I have done handful of car campings in tx state parks by using the 50AMP charging. best vehicle to stay safe and adventurous within our limits.

Anybody know anything about the status of the San Antonio Service Center? Last I heard I just saw a copy of the building permit that estimated a completion date of July 2024. Anybody know if they're making any progress??

I'm expecting to take delivery of a 2023 R1T in LA silver quad motor large pack in the next couple weeks, and I couldn't be more stoked. It'll be nice knowing I have a SC where I live if/when they get that completed.

Cheers!

Hello. I just joined the club. I have a 2023 R1T large pack with AT tires on 20" wheels with 16k miles. I am planning a trip to Big Bend from Austin. Anyone have experience with charging along I-10? I am specifically curious about the reliability/availability of the Electrify America chargers in Ozona and Fort Stockton. Any other suggestions welcome. Of course, I don't have a NACS to CCS adapter yet. Thanks for the input.

Hey there! Just joined the forums and this group as I put in a reservation for R2 moments after the reveal event was finished. I am very excited for the Austin Rivian Store to open later this year - hoping that the community in this area will get more active and organized because of that.

I hope you're right...I've been a bit surprised/disappointed at the lack of activity given the volume of Rivian owners in the ATX and SATX area.

@kurtlikevonnegut I will definitely be trying to attend any events that I can. Hopefully we can work on getting an official club put together if there is more activity. It looks like Lone Star is based out of Houston and North Texas is based out of DFW.

Excited to be a future Rivian Owner - I am in the process of getting a used Model Y to hold me over until 2026.

@kurtlikevonnegut Hi, I just joined the group. I've had my R1T since late 2022. Hopefully I can make some future events.

Missed the cars and coffee the other day because of work. But Houston and Dallas seem more active. And the SATX/Austin club seems to have more activities around Austin than SAT.
Set of 4 20” all-terrain tires and wheels for sale
About 1,200 miles on them
Retails for $4,900 on Rivian’s website
For sale for $3,900

Hi everyone! Just joined the group as I'll be picking up my R1S on March 22nd and honestly, haven't been this excited for a vehicle since my '65 Mustang way, way long time ago!

Hi y'all -- does anyone in Austin have crossbars that I can borrow over Christmas/New Years (12/21 to 1/2) for a roadtrip? I've ordered an Overland Ruff Rax, but it doesn't look like I'll be getting it in time.

I know it's a bit of a weird ask, but it seems silly to buy crossbars for one trip. And if I don't have a way to mount the Thule box, my wife is gonna make us take the minivan!

Update -- I bought the Rivian crossbars and installed them, but will probably sell them in 2024 if anyone's interested
I picked up R1s from Austin SC and shopped for ceramic coating for few places around city but most of them quoted around $1200-1800. Finally I found out "Cap detail" near Kyle, reasonably priced and I am extremely happy with the outcome. DM me if you need a referral for additional discount that he promised.

Hey Guys, new R1S Limestones 21s w/OC in south Austin. Got it August 2nd and love it this far. Recommend getting some ceramic tints and 3rd party roof mesh for this heat tho.

Hi everybody, I’m Dave in Kyle. Our R1T was delivered from Houston last August 26, 2022 before the Austin service center was open. After much deliberation me and my wife, Alicia, picked a green in green truck instead of waiting even longer for an R1S we had built for our order. Just couldn’t wait any longer!

But, since the truck is more mine than hers we recently bought a 2020 Tesla X Long Range, so I’ve been able to do some comparing. Long and short of that is both are great examples of each companies products and I can’t wait to have access to the Tesla charging network.

Anyways, I look forward to participating with the group! Its been fun driving and getting to know my R1T for the past year!

Btw, sorry so late joining the group!

Hey Dave. I have a launch green R1S in Buda. Mine was delivered from Houston exactly one week after yours.

I am pretty sure we may have passed each other a few times. I drive 1626 to 45, Brodie, Menchaca quite a bit and remember seeing an R1T like yours before in this area.

Hey everybody, thought I’d throw this out here and hope topics like this are ok?!? Butbecause I didn’t realize it was a possible road drive mode…and because of a Rivian owners comment to the excessive tire wear article which was something like…
“Sport mode since day 1, because whats the point of having a 835 HP super truck if you don’t drive it like a 835 HP super truck?”
that got me thinking….
***Also, this comes with a disclaimer that this should not be tried if you are not comfortable with your rear tires losing, or more accurately Breaking, traction. ***

Has anyone tried Drive Mode>Off-Road>Drift>Traction-Control-Off>Standard-Height.
This allows Drifting at speeds greater than 20mph.
If you know how to control the rear tires trying to catch up with the front tires it will bring 😁’s!
But again, be careful, know how to control a sideways vehicle and not sure I would try this with off-road tires on asphalt, it will tear up the tread! I have 21” road tires (well worn! 😂) so I get some nice drift action.

Also, please don’t think I drive like that all the time, 95% of the time I’m in Conserve Drive Mode being range conscious! The other 5%…😜😎

Hello,

We are relocating to Helotes in about a month from the Greenville area in SC. We'll be in the SA area for 2 years. I've had my FG R1T for a year as of July and loved every minute of it.

Hello, fellow Rivian owners!

Matt here from ATX, I'm looking forward to my R1T pick-up scheduled on 8/3!

The process took a little over 2 weeks, from the initial deposit day to the pick-up.
I could have had my hands on it 2 days sooner, but my mobile deposit check from the proceeds of my '17 RAM 1500 Night Edition is taking the full 7 business days to clear the full amount /rant.
