The paperwork is a nightmare...I understand that they are not a "regular" car dealership but then again I'm not a car dealership either. I got very frustrated trying to track down the forms required for a commercial purchase, print them, fill them out, scan them back only to be told that it was rejected because I had missed some small detail, etc. and then do it all over again. Be like a regular dealership, if there is a form you need - send it to me - prefilled - and just looking for my review and signature. It was also very frustrating trying to buy it as a company vehicle. For financing they don't really care about company financials. Everything that is required for company income basically says,
"if it exceeds $1M just enter $999,999, don't worry it won't affect your application".
You should worry....it won't affect your application because they want you to be a personal co-applicant .... so basically the primary applicant. They won't be looking at company financials because even though it is a company vehicle it is being processed as if it was being sold to your personally. I direct a multi-million dollar company but for tax reasons I am paid in dividends. This of course never makes banks happy as it is considered "difficult to prove" income. However just last year we also purchased an Audi company vehicle of comparable value to the Rivian. It was processed to the company, looking at company financials, and approval took less than 15 minutes. For Rivian we were approved, then not approved, then approved again, then not approved with no path forward. I was told that even if I supplied 99% of the purchase price as a deposit I wouldn't be approved for the final 1% for financing. I gave up at that point and just went through my business bank - again approval took less than 15 minutes and was based on company financials (not really sure why I was bothering trying to finance with Rivian anyway - guess I thought it would be easier ?!?).
I really hope the remainder of the purchase goes far smoother than the initial portion....

Yup have had it for 3 weeks now and loving it. Looking forward to seeing more Rivians up here in Edmonton!

I have had my R1S adventure since last Saturday. I had to pick it up from the Calgary service centre and the drive up to Edmonton was surprisingly wonderful. The ride was better than expected and I did not hear wind noise. The driver plus was nice when available. I had it PPF last few days and got it back this morning and drove in the snowy condition. It handled the snow very well. And the wipers were pretty good too. So far I enjoy driving it. And driving it to snowy south to Canmore tomorrow afternoon.
Hi folks,

I am in the process of completing the required paperwork for my purchase with pick up scheduled for Friday.

I have a few lessons that I would like to share.

#1 - You will be assigned to a Rivian Guide to help you through the process. Mine was/is great but Rivian doesn't provide us ,the buyers, with direct phone numbers or email addresses. This means that you are always getting voice mail or sending an email to a general inbox. For this me this was super frustrating as everything took longer than it should.

#2 - You will need insurance. I tried to get insurance through AMA. What a mistake. I spent far to long on the phone with them getting a quote in order. Once I had it "finalized" AMA said that they needed to go back to their underwriter to confirm everything. When they came back to me the quote increased by 10%. Bait and switch? It sure felt like it. The bottom line is be prepared for your insurance provider to be confused by Rivian as it is such a new car. My solution was to sign up with the provider suggested by Rivian. As a side note they now have a shot at all of my insurance business as my relationship with AMA is now tenuous.

#3 - This isn't like buying a car from a dealer. Get everything ready 4 days before your delivery this includes execution of the purchase agreement, insurance and your method of payment.

Good luck. I hope that your purchase process is less stressful that what I have experienced.

Give TD insurance a try for a quote - for me TD’s quote was 25% lower than Rivian’s provider. They even give discounts for the vehicle being an EV.

I’m through Dyck insurance in Wetaskiwin (Wawanesa underwriting), when I registered it I was the 3rd in Alberta, had a quote within a day and no issues at all getting the policy set up

As an insurance broker, myself & I can't see why there would be any issues or the need for an underwriter to increase the premium. This isn't the right platform to self-promote, but I would say that a Broker is probably going to be your best friend. A Direct writer only has premiums for their company, but a broker will have access to a few different companies. All of the companies "we" write with have no issues with Rivian (Wawanesa has a discount specific to the Brand, and Intact and Aviva have EV Discounts). Watch your deductibles (some companies will want a 10% deductible) & whomever you go with, just make sure you get SEF 18 Coverage (Replacement Cost Coverage). :)
Stopped by what I understand to be the future Rivian Service Centre location in Calgary to see of there was any signs of life or progress. It appears nothing is yet started on the SC build-out, unfortunately.
Its okay... I'm patient!

Just had my test drive today!
So great to be behind the wheel after living vicariously for so long. Man, what a drive!
Wife was "pleased", though not with the launch... Was a while recovering from that!
Chris helped by finding a near - match in the shop, which we can not yet access.
OC interior instead of configured dark (free one).
I took his advice and locked it... So have started the purchase process!
Oh shht! Now I have to PAY for this!

@Rivian_YYC_Neighbor I see a El Cap Quad with 21s which is my configuration, wonder if that’s mine! Thanks for taking photos!
My office is directly across from their Calgary location.

I found this out after putting my deposit in...lol

I'll post updates as they started work last week.

I was wondering if you have noticed a big change in the last 3 weeks?
Thank you.

My trip to Calgary was cancelled so I did drive by the proposed service center. We need an update from Rivian_YYC_Neighbor whose office is across from the Service Centre.

Hey guys.

I've gone across the street and introduced myself to the service manager. A couple weeks ago they started parking the vehicles outside so people know what the heck they are doing in town.

I noticed last week that some customers were taking test drives and I should expect a call imminently (I pre-ordered in April 2023).

They told me they were expecting delivery any day now from Vancouver and it seems that today is the day! Two trailer loads were delivered!
