Fix / update by @bael who had the same issue:

Link: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...attery-trickle-issue-needs-software-fix.5313/

Got the truck back.
The module that tells the truck it’s going to sleep and the high voltage should trickle the 12v doesn’t always tell it. It’s being worked on, hopefully the next software update contains the fix.
12v batteries got replaced because of it.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again before another update.

Original post:

This morning I got into the truck and both screens were in night mode even though it was daytime. When I attempted to shift into drive multiple warnings popped up. Service airbags, a red truck icon with an exclamation point and others. Was in a hurry so I left. Came back about an hour later and same warnings were on.

Called Rivian service and they started asking questions and I sent them pictures of the screen. We attempted a full reboot (left steering wheel button and hazard flasher button). When I attempted to shift into drive even more warnings popped up including the tortoise. Service advisor said let it go to sleep and he'll get tech support. After 45 minutes the screens wouldn't come on. Just got off the phone with Rivian again after being unable to unlock the doors. They will get back to me. Not great. Had the truck about 5 weeks. Loved it otherwise...

if you have a 12v jump pack sounds like the 12v are done or need trickle charging. I think they have a bad batch.

How does charging the 12 volt work? I can't unlock or open anything...

Sorry for you, I hope it’s something simple. Keep us posted.

Thanks! I'll wait to jump until I hear back from Rivian given that it had issues prior to going lights out...

Look at pages 192 and 193 of the latest R1T manual. It shows how to jump start the vehicle with leads by the hitch receiver. You should be able to charge the battery there as well.

For memory, this is the 4th bricked on the forum. ~1/40 brick rate so far.

I wonder if it is tied to the air bag recall. If something is not shutting off on the 12 volt circuit because it thinks someone is still in the vehicle it could be draining the 12 volt batteries.

It’d be interesting to know the VINs on those bricked trucks to see if they were all early production units.

to be fair i think there's bias, not everyone posts 'my truck works perfect!' but everyone posts when it's not working ;)
I'm dividing the number of bricked by total deliveries in tracker. Don't need everyone to post that it works.

I suppose if people aren't putting theirs in tracker at all then that lowers the dividend....

It is an amazing truck, I love it and lucky that it stopped working at home. The number of people who stop to talk about how much they love it is amazing as well!
