I love how they’re dropping Indy in practical videos but wish it was more

The only thing this does is give me confidence that they know what they are doing and want to do it right, I don't mind waiting.

I do appreciate that Rivian has been putting out almost daily videos, but I wish they contained more.....ya know, information. Of any kind.

Watching the R1T slide around on ice is neat and all, but I think we’d all appreciate some actual details about the truck

So they mentioned they have been testing test charging cold soaked batteries at 400A and want to get 500A which is max rating of DC charging. I think this means 500amp is assumption that it works just not the best in the cold climate.
???

at this time spot

So, this confirms they currently have a 400V charging system. 160KW at 400A and 200KW at 500A.

If they had 800V charging, then 400A would be 320KW and 500A would not be possible, due to the 350 KW limit. In an 800V system the maximum current supplied by the charger is 437.5A at 350KW rate.

The spec sheet said 920V not 800V so maybe 500amp is possible ?

The instrument cluster has a Tesla-like visualization that is showing what objects the self-driving system detects -- like cars ahead and in adjacent lanes. I really hope that is a production feature and not just a development/testing screen.

Edit: I guess a heat pump could still be in play, interesting heating system they have for the batteries, hopefully means a higher efficiency than other electric cars in the cold.
“In extremely cold conditions we use some battery energy to keep the cells in our battery above 14°F to provide controlled vehicle performance. Some EVs have electrical heaters to heat the battery up, which is another component — more cost, more mass and a drain on electrical supply. Instead, we’re using our inverter and motor to generate heat — even while stationary our traction system can generate substantial heat for the battery. And we use that heat to warm the battery to the point where it can deliver full performance. Our battery is uniquely designed to operate in super cold conditions, all the way down to an ambient temp of -40°F.”

Looks like no heat pump confirmed
This doesn't exclude the existence of a heat pump for the cabin. It does make it unlikely that they are using resistance heating for the cabin.
